  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

I am reaching out humbly to gain the wisdom of those who have forgotten more than I know.

Thus far, in life, I have been an Anglican/Episcopalian only (baptized, married, Son christened, confirmed by Bishop Jefferts-Schori, personally). My parents were from England, so there is also a familial draw to the Anglican church.

In my area of the country (Nevada), there is a far greater Lutheran presence here than there is an Episcopal presence. (In fact, we'd already decided that, barring events unknown yet to happen, we'd like our Son to attend Sierra Lutheran, here in town.)

But where I must plead absolute ignorance is as to the two churches: Lutheran and Episcopal. For my age (mid 40s) I seem to be a weirdo even in my own church, as I much prefer a rote, "Rite 1" service from "The Book of Common Prayer" than I do the 10-11 a.m., bongo-and-guitar-playing service.

Any information will help me to decide where I ought to be. Thank You!
