  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Today's Friday, my day off, have breakfast, just finished my daily journal, listening to relaxing music. Just thinking it loud, as people said " each new day is the start of the rest of your life." And in 3 years, after my kid finish college, I am eligible to retire. Then what ? At different stage of our life we long for with anticipation of the next stage. Then when we get there, it is not as blissful as it seem then we long for the other stage. So live and let live, enjoy the moment and be content ?

These are great verse from Ecclesiastes 12 :13-14 "Now all has been heard; here is the conclusion of the matter:Fear God and keep his commandments, for this is the duty of all mankind.14 For God will bring every deed into judgment, including every hidden thing, whether it is good or evil"

Love to hear how you apply these verse to keep His commandments.

BTW: Thomas Cole's paintings " voyage of life " great depiction of life.

Ecclesiastes 2:17 So I hated life, because the work that is done under the sun was grievous to me. All of it is meaningless, a chasing after the wind.

My work before retirement was like that

Ecclesiastes 3:22 So I saw that there is nothing better for a person than to enjoy their work, because that is their lot. For who can bring them to see what will happen after them?

I'm currently training to do work after retirement that should be a lot better, and most probably it will be fun.

(My understanding is the most depressing thing anyone can do is to sit at home thinking about their life (ruminating). Better is to sit at home watching TV. A lot better is to get a job and keep more active and have some money to give to a child or where ever it is needed. Because the best life is one where you know you have helped others. This is not only core to Buddhism, that is to say thousands of years of human experience, but also is true to recent experience).

I think it is so true of the saying " happiness is to give". A self centered life is never happy. Are you retired or are you preparing for it. I have at least three more years to go. 1/2 of pay check going to pay for College tuition. Slow and such a procrastinator I am, I actually have a plan to learn skill sets to help people in a practical way. I wrote this on my journal so it stare in my face every time I make an entry. Mostly Laziness mix with health issue always get in the way of enrolling in local college classes. Well, at least I can cook. In my more spiritually active days I prepare meal for fellowship. So I have to say I have no excuse but to get off my lazy rear end and start putting this skill to support charity organizations right now. One more item for my " to do list" to look up my neighborhood volunteer list. Will keep you posted.

Love God. Love people. Jesus said all the law and all the prophets hung on that. So I do my best to treat everyone like they matter. I'm not saying I'm perfect at it, but God does not require perfection, just willingness. He can work with that.

Andy Stanley is doing a FANTASTIC teaching on that right now. Here's the link: North Point
