God is not worried about how our meat is killed. The way He told the Jews to kill the sacrificial animals would not be considered "humane" by todays standards.

Genesis 9:3 "Every moving thing that liveth shall be meat for you; even as the green herb have I given you all things."

Later on God gave specific instructions to the Children of Israel as to what meats they were and were not allowed to eat, along with 600+ laws. These were all types and shadows of Jesus Christ.

There is nothing biblically wrong whatsoever with eating whatever meat you want.

Hey again, TruththroughGod.

Just an afterthought: if you have the time and desire, do a search on the Internet of Reuben Jorden's book The Maker's Diet (not sure I am spelling his name right). In the book, he talks about how he miraculously recovered from a very serious disease by following God's diet and avoiding unclean meats. If you have time, the book will most certainly bless you, as it did me. Just thought I'd share.

Meat has vitamins we need (just the B12 vitamin), however, as even Daniel 1 demonstrates, a mostly vegetarian diet is a good thing. Animal products are the only foods that add cholesterol...

Meat is not some protein wondersource. Even a potato has sufficient protein, and red beans and rice in combination make a whole protein. The best meats are lean (poultry and fish) and not red.

Anytime I see a thread that starts with "is x a sin", I am concerned that the poster is dabbling in legalism. There is no place for legalism in the Christian life ... none. The better question to ask: "Is eating meat a wise and God-honoring thing to do?" And, the answer to the question is that the question is too complicated for a simple yes or no answer. As to whether it is God-honoring, the Bible indicates that God gave us animals, in part, for food. So, it is in no way dishonoring to God to simply eat animals.

However, it is reasonable to ask whether it is God-honoring to raise animals in the way that many modern factory farms do. It is also reasonable to ask whether it is wise to eat meat that is genetically altered or is bred and/or raised to have maximum fat content. Likewise, one should consider whether it is wise and good to eat meat as a the centerpiece of one's diet or whether it is better that meat be eaten sparingly (perhaps a few servings per week). I find that when I look at it this way, my convictions lead me to avoid most red meat and to eat vegetarian meals several times per week. That is just where I find myself led. Others will consider the same questions and come to different conclusions. I just encourage people to think and pray about what they put into their bodies.

That is from the Old Testament, We do not live in the Old Testament.

Hey, TruththroughGod.

God does want us to slaughter animals humanely, and the Jewish way is the most humane.

The Bible records that Jesus ate fish, and as a Jewish man He probably ate other clean meats.

If you want to be as healthy as you can be, avoid unclean meats like pork and shellfish. God deemed these unclean in the Bible.

Thanks :) I didn't know how exactly to word it. This is precisely what I meant to ask :)

I still eat meat, but only every other day (not all week). I find it healthier to do so. God also wants you to take care of your temple (your body also) through exercise or any kind of physical activity. That and not eating meat everyday, is better for the body, mind, and spirit. Pork is a food that should be stayed away from. Eat more fish and chicken, they are better for you than any other types of meat.

Eating meat is fine. Some people say why would cows be on Earth if we couldn't eat them? This is the wrong question, since they provide milk.

If God wanted a cow to only be useful for one thing, it'd probably make it a darn skinny animal with only milk coming from it.

In Isaiah God speaks about "a rebellious people which walk in a way that is not good, after their own thoughts; a people that provoke Me to anger continually to My face," (65:2,3). One of the reasons these people provoke the Lord is because they "eat swine’s flesh, and broth of unclean meat is in their pots," (65:4).

Also, before the new heavens and new earth are established, God declares that He will consume those people "who eat swine’s flesh, detestable things, and mice" (Isa.66:17). The context of this prophecy is the end times, right before the new heaven and new earth. This would certainly seem to suggest that the Lord will still expect an obedience to His dietary laws.

I think the problem is we compare "meat" of today with that of the time of Jesus. Even those who herded animals, their animals ate grass and were healthy. They weren't stuffed full of corn and grain to fatten them up to where the meat became unhealthy. Eating meat is certainly not a sin, as God has provided the animals for us.. however in today's age that doesn't make it healthy. Cows were once lean, and now red meat is very fattening. As for "unclean" meat.. well, I'm never giving up shellfish (I don't eat a lot of pork as it is)
