  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

What do Messianics do for Easter, Anything?...We haven't celebrated Easter in years, because of the pagan origins. We have been doing Resurrection day!:) But most christians who call it that still do the egg and bunny thing! Are there any messianic traditions? Or you could just share some of your own!:) /Thanks-Erin

Since it is the only day of the year I can get some gospel down the gullets of my adult children we have a family meal

I have forbidden all pagen symbols from the house
no eggs
rabitts
for the love of all thats holy NO CHOCOLATE CROSSES!
No jelly beans (not till after they are half price on Monday anyway
then the go in my office to snack on)
No Baskets
No marshmellow Chicks
AND NO CALLING IT EASTER

They are permitted to refer to it as
"The unholy celebration to the goddess Ashereth"

OK they can call it Ishtar

Blessings
much Love

Your humor, PG, lightens up my day.

Erin, did you see the thread with the resurrection day cookies? They look like a fun tradition. I will try to find it for you.

LOL - you guys are truly NUTZ, you know that?? Yes, I suppose you do!!

Brentsbaby,

Some MJs still celebrate Resurrection Sunday, however many do not. We celebrate rather, First Fruits, which falls on the day after the Sabbath of Passover. (See Ex 23, Ex 34, Lev 23)

It is also from this date that we start counting the Omer, (see Lev 23) that period of 50 days that ends with the Feast of Shavuot/Weeks, aka among gentile believers as Pentecost. (See Ex 34, Num 28 and Deut 10) also (Acts 2, Acts 20, 1Cor 16) ;)

This is one plase where I differ strongly with rabbinic halakha.

The first day of Passover was yesterday, this year 4/6 - and that day is a sabbath.

The festival of First Fruits/HaBikkurim has two traditions:
Rabbinic: is the first day after the Feast of Unleavened Bread - which this year would make it today

"Biblical" according to my understanding of scriptures: the first day after the weekly Shabbat during the week of Passover - making it on a Sunday each year (and there in lies the secret for why the rabbis prefer the other method)
Depending on which method you follow - Shavuot, aka Pentecost - is on the 50th day counted from HaBikkurim.

My wife

Miss Bonnie

My oh so VERY protestant wife
Eager to please
Faithful to G-d

Buckling down
Eating no leavened bread this week at all
Bless her!

How do I tell her that I don't think our Orthodox friends would approve
of ham and swiss on a matzoh?

:)

Bless you all

Hmmm we need to have a talk about that sis big time

And I am a smart husband

Things I have learned in marriage:

1 Do not leave the seat up - not ever
2 Yes she really does need all them things in the bathroom
3 Moving furnature and painting walls is a form or worship for wommen
and most importantly
4 If she asks if her behind looks big in a particular outfit - SAY NOTHING!
4a I have a particularly lumpy sofa that is not good for sleeping on. ;)

We ( most of us here) DID just celebrate Passover, the day the Lamb was slain, the day Yeshua was nailed to the tree. Christians are celebrating this late this year, on Friday. Today is the 16th of Nisan, the day of firstfruits, I will celebrate His resurection today as it is the third day. This is in time keeping that the L-rd himself gave not the church.

For the feast of firstfruits the priests of the temple would select certain sheafs in a certain field of specially grown barley and mark them for the cutting to happen on the eve of nisan 16. They would then be brought into the temple and thrashed to separate out the kernels from the chaff. This was done until it was all pure and not a bit of chaff was left. In the morning the firstfruits were presented to the L-rd. The flour was mixed with Olive oil and a bit of frankincense was sprinked upon it.

Does any of this sound familiar? :)

LOL I'm not much for chocolate all the time BUT That looks YUMMY! I went to the site there and it has a box for you to fill in, saying "when would you like this shipped?" or something such. My response when I saw it was... "now? Now would be good. :sorry: " LOL
