In Colossians, the Bible talks about becoming new in Christ:

If then you have been raised with Christ, seek the things that are above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. 2 Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth. 3 For you have died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God. 4 When Christ who is your[a] life appears, then you also will appear with him in glory.

5 Put to death therefore what is earthly in you: sexual immorality, impurity, passion, evil desire, and covetousness, which is idolatry.

What does it mean by passion or (desire)? Does it mean desiring earthly things that you don't necessarily need is sinful, or to just make sure those things aren't your focus?

In the KJV it says inordinate affection instead of passion. I would suggest looking in Strong's Concordance to see what it means in the Greek, but I'm thinking it means lust. As for the meaning of the entire passage, it sounds a lot like when Jesus said seek ye first the kingdom of God and all these things will be added unto you.

Romans chapter 1 talks about how lusts begin with not crediting God for who He is and worshiping the creature over the creator. By this we don't acknowledge God in our life, and our passions and desires, which are God-made, can't be controlled and become lustful.

I don't think desires and passions are wrong in and of themselves. It's whether we subordinate them under God's way or His direction and authority.

Very well said, my friend.

It is not a sin to be tempted. There are many temptations in this world. It is a sin to give in to temptation. We need to put on the full armor of God each and every day to avoid the many arrows this world slings at us. The sins of the flesh, of the mind, of the spirit. Fighting evil is a three dimensional battle every second, every minute, every day.

It is speaking of 'lust'.

Our greatly increased knowledge in these end times has given our (human) race great pride, the granddaddy of all sins. Pride is what lead to the fall of Lucifer if my fellow Christians recall. Because of this pride we now believe that WE invented God, NOT the reverse, and that he and his written words are indeed a myth. This belief is being spread and taught across our planet as God's believers are being ridiculed, minimalized and even executed. It is a sad state of affairs that we keep falling as a race because we stubbornly refuse to acknowledge the truth.
