Hi All,

I am in urgent need of advice from a fellow Christian about something I am struggling with at the moment (especially other Calvinists). Will God ever completely abandon a person because of his sins? I just want to know if there's any hope for me because I am deeply affected by sin and the devil. What are the signs of hope in an individual? What if I can't stop sinning over and over again? What if pure hypocrisy has found its home in me?

I read some parts of a book called War on the Saints today and it deeply disturbed me. It appears I have been giving heed to lying spirits who have attached themselves to me. I don't what to do...I am lost...I can't feel any more...my inner spirit has almost died. What is the unforgivable sin and how does one commit it?

He will never abandon you!!!!!!!!!!!!!! He didn't send His Son to do a half job on saving us. Tell God how you feel and pour your heart out to Him because He understands. Gods promise is that we have life and every promise of God is YES and AMEN in Christ Jesus. When we were sinners Christ died for us. Now that's awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

There is hope because Jesus came to destroy the works of the devil.

What are the signs of hope in an individual?

Your conscious and by the fact that you are here writing about it.

You will have to get deliverance

We all have that and we need to make choices in what we do. We can give in to God or to the devil. It's our choice.

You need deliverance. The War on the Saints is a classic awesome deliverance/spiritual warfare book. It's great.

What is the unforgivable sin and how does one commit it?

The unforgivable sin is attributing the Works of God to the devil.

Get down on your knees, repent from your sins outloud, surrender to God and this will release the hold of the devil on you. Then you can command them to come out In Jesus Name. Find other Christians to fellowship with and find a good Bible believing church. Get in the habit of reading the Word of God and memorizing it (Psalm 119:11). Watch out for the devils patterns. Change your habits so you won't be tempted to sin. My uncle used to be an alcoholic and he would drive by the bar after work to grab a drink. When he became a Christian, he drove around the block to stay away from the bar. By doing that, he didn't give place to the devil.
Have you thought about fasting? Fasting has unequaled power in breaking the power of the enemy.

God brings men through deep waters, not to drown them but to cleanse them.

Though our feelings come and go, His love for us does not.

Remember, the devil can speak to us in our own voice making us think it's us who are
thinking bad things.

Your relationship with God was established 2000 years ago on the cross. That is what you can live out of now.

That book is not altogether reliable. You need a much better understanding of your secure relationship with God through Jesus before you delve into issues set out in that book.

Clearly, God does not abandon us.

Sin causes separation, it doesn't directly cause us to lose our salvation, we receive salvation through faith, not sinlessness. But the question is, can you remove yourself so far with sin, that you cease to believe, that you commit apostacy, you follow other gods.

Many claim that is not possible, but I believe the Bible is clear that is can and does happen, and that it's not even that rare. Hence all the passages where the bible urges us to persevere.

In any case, it's rather moot. If you are asking the question, you aren't that far gone. If you were, you would have no desire to return.

So turn to the cross, realize that nothing you have done wasn't paid for there and believe the promise of God that he who believes shall be saved. There is no clause on that that you will be saved if you didn't sin, or didn't drift from your father as the prodigal son drifted.

God will (appear to) abandon anyone who is sure that God has abandoned him.

Faith is an important thing.
If a person has Faith in the fact that God has turned His back on him, then his Faith will help make it so.

Faith also works the other way.
If you believe that God is working in your Life, then that Faith can help make that True.

Satan's favorite activity is: Making people think that they've done something that is SO bad that God will no longer be there for him.
So, kick Satan in the butt.
Believe in God.
Believe that God is forgiving.
Jesus Christ asks us to believe in God, and His ability to Heal us.
If you have the Faith of a Mustard seed, mountains can move.
(But, don't worry, I don't have THAT much Faith either ... I have JUST enough Faith to feel that God is here with me, as I stumble through my Life.)

And, OP, STOP reading those kinds of books.
Try reading the Bible, instead.
There's a lot of Garbage out there, in print.

Hi Matt..

I pray you are part of a church family, youth group or something that you can draw on at this time in your life. You need someone in your life that can act as a mentor and spiritual leader for you. Someone that can give you wise advice, Godly advice.
I don't know how long you've been a Christian, but if not for very long you should put the book you're reading down, and pick up the Bible first. Find out who you are in Christ. Read Colossians in the 1st chapter, discover where you are seated with Christ. Read in Philippians that you can do all things through Christ that gives you the strength you need to do everything. Get to know Christ and what He says, especially what He says about you, His son. You are the apple of His eye, and He died on that cross for you. If you were the ONLY one in the world, He still would have done it.
I pray you find the encouragement, and hope you need. Please do not focus on the negative and your past, but focus on the future. Paul says in Philippians that he presses on towards the goal of his life's highest calling, his Lord Jesus Christ. You must forget the past, and quit looking back. Look forward! Don't go back to the past by continuing to relive your past sins. When you repented and asked God to forgive you, He did. He does not remember your sins anymore. He has cast them in the sea of forgetfulness, as far as the east is from the west. It's US that remembers our sins, and if you go back to Him over and over and keep confessing the same sins, well, He says "what sin? I forgave that one".. If you continue to repeat the same sin over and over again, then you need to ask yourself why you do this, and pray and ask God what you need to do to in order to rise above this. Remember, when you are saved, your flesh and all your habits do not get saved. What took years to bring about is not going to stop in one day. You go to God, He helps you clean up your life..He who has begun a good work in you shall complete it. Know your scriptures, Know the Word of God, ..everytime a past thought comes to you, immediately refute it with a scripture.
Do these things, and I promise your life will be different..
Oh, and it's called sanctification..The process that you go through after being saved.
And, there is only one sin that is unforgiveable, blasphemy against the Holy Spirit.
In God's eyes, a sin is a sin is a sin, not one greater than the other except for the one mentioned above , against the Holy Spirit.
He loves you, He has forgiven you..forgive yourself.

A lot of good posts - different believers interpret the unpardonable sin different ways but you haven't committed the unpardonable sin or you wouldn't be concerned about it.

As a believer, you can Rest in Him and know that - Yahweh loves you with an everlasting love (Jer 31:3).

God never abandons unfortunately our sin does separates us but it is not his choice. It is our choice to sin and not repent. He is always there with his arms open wide waiting for us to make it right.

hi matt in, from what ive read of your position, i dont think god ever desserts a man, rather it is man who desserts the lord . it is then up to him what he does next. you can read this in judas' story for the devestating effects of the blanket denial of the lord and acceptance of sin. or more like how as you show, with your even asking for help, like in peters' story, though he denied christ, through his forgiveness a sinner could become the foundation on which he would preach his new covernent. well thats what i think mate

I understand your fear over commiting the unpardonable sin. That sin is blasphemy against the Holy Spirit. That was explained to me as continually, repeatedly hardening your heart against the Spirit and the things of God.

If you had committed that sin, you wouldn't care at all if you has broken your relationship with God. You would not be concerned about those consequences. So, if you are worrried that you might have committed that sin, that's a clear indicator that you have not.
