Hi, What is the best DVD recorder on the market for a computer? Can people record movies from a DVD to another blank DVD disk? Have any of you heard of this company called Ripper and copying?

My friend has a DVD player and often copies DVDs. It's rather involved for the majority of DVDs due to copywrite protections and such, and it took him a while to find good software for it. I'll have to ask him what he uses.

Most movie DVD's are too big for the normal DVD disks you get from stores (about 4.7 gigs I believe is standard).

Well, they now sell a burner that can burn two layers onto a disk, so I wouild imagine that those disks are now available. The space on those is about double the space a 4.7G disk.

Why are you wanting to do this... just because you can, doesn't mean ya should... is there a "good" reason ?

It's rather involved for the majority of DVDs due to copywrite protections and such, and it took him a while to find good software for it.

please see above, there is a very distinct reason for this being the case...


(I am not looking for trouble here, starting flame wars, whatever... just playing "angels advocate" with a heart towards doing the right thing.)

Hi, I heard from a major chain store that the DVD writers will be made illegal to buy or sell in the future is this true? The movie companys don't want DVD's to end up like VHS in the past where everybody could copy them.
