  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Is it worth the $40-$45 a month?

I'm still on dialup because I can get that for under $20. I can't imagine spending that much just to be able to surf the net faster. If I had a home business that would be different but I don't.

If I could get DSL for around $25-30 I would consider it. However, I've seen no signs of it coming down......

I would say it's worth it. The best part is being able to share an Internet connection simultaneously (technically you could do that with dial-up too, but the speed would be excruciating).

For me, if I spent 10 mins a day on the internet it would be worth it.

Pages load up istantaneously, you don't have to wait for the graphics to load one by one, you email comes faster, email attachments download faster, you can download short movie clips in not time, you can watch streaming movie trailers at quicktime in full screen. It doesn't tie up your phone line like dial up. And if you have another phone line you are probably paying $10 or more for that. So then the question becomes....why wouldn't you pay just $10 more a month for a VAST improvement.

Its great, I got cable the first day it was available and have loved it ever since. I can't stand the sound of modem now, it seems antiquated to me. Like a TV with a channel nob on it.

Well, if you've got the money for it then go for it. I'd rather spend that extra $20-30 on other things.

Maybe DSL is cheaper than you thought. In a lot of cities,(Chicago for one) it's on sale for $30/mo plus a $50 modem. Subtract your AOL ($20 or whatever) because you won't need it. Anybody can use the phone or fax when you are on line too so if you have a 2nd phone line for that reason, you can cancel that. I just switched from cable because of the cost and I can't tell the speed difference.
