• Starting today August 7th, 2024, in order to post in the Married Couples, Courting Couples, or Singles forums, you will not be allowed to post if you have your Marital status designated as private. Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

drstevej, would you please consider.....

.....being a mod of this forum?

Your leadership, your insight, your experience is greatly needed here.

I know you have issues with foru.ms. I do too. Many of us do. But you could be a great leader here, maybe the last area that resembles what CF used to be. An area that might grow exponentially as a result of the new changes.

I even see this forum as a new horizon.

Please, if you will, please consider, being a new voice, a voice for truth, a new leader in the wilderness foru.ms has become.

Your consideration is greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

Auntie

I would love that too, Auntie, but to me, Steve's role should be at a much higher level than a mere mod.

Lisa

I agree. But if he would agree to be a mod of this forum, I think he could be a great voice here.

Not meaning to put too much pressure on him, but I think he could be a kind of "Moses" to us who need someone to lead us out of the wilderness.

Mods here are the backbone of the forums and their role on the front lines is determinative in many ways. So the issue of rank is not significant. Some of the best times I had at CF were as a mod. And if the Erwin I knew when I was a mod were still around and the original vision that honored truth above expediency was uncompromised, I would gladly return. And I know a dozen other conservative ex staff who would likely join me.

I did offer to return and help but the individual I approached thought I needed to learn to "act like a pastor." Now, I have been a pastor since this person was three years old and am not up for acting lessons.

I was on staff for a year and a half (in every position from mod to Exec) and always was myself and spoke my mind. Some did not like me others did. And some who didn't now are close friends.

This place now reeks of postmodern relativism and I can not join the choir praising the shift.

For the time, I will hang around and minister as I see opportunity. There are some good folk here.

Jim, you are the kind that ought to be on staff. Why are you leaving this forum? What about us in CC repels you?

By the way, I would not vote for him for any positions he applies for, if he applies, which, I doubt he will ever want to be involved in this forum that he complains so much about).

...sorta my thinking, a lot of his posts, sigs, avatars seem to be provocative~maybe he stylizes himself like a modern day Luther/Erasmus (or if you've read Menno Simons/Martin Micron) where the arguing gets kicked up to the mockery level.

But I'm willing to hear it out...

Very saavy Mr. Jim. Erasmus is a very good analogy. Do not claim his intellect but his style is appreciated.

The Luther analogy is appreciated. I don't think Luther would last long here though, so I am a bit of a Luther-Melancthon hybrid.

Yes, I was wondering what possessed him to choose that avatar as well in light of whom he claims to represent and he made an off topic post here somewhere to bring attention to it and I had to wonder what his motivation was/is. He has apparently made it known to some that he is a Pastor.
That in itself concerns me, in light of this. I have for the most part always thought DrStevej was sold out to Christ. His avatar combined with the attention getting post, has left me wondering

I have always respected Steve and still do, but have reservations about him coming back on staff. This is due to the nature of what I knew from before when he was on staff and how is became an all out war between certain Faiths on this board and because of his now ill timed sometimes and ill placed, although I have to say well intentioned, attention seeking efforts.

We have to seek change but there are better ways to do it than mockery.

Cut Steve some slack. The mockery sure does get attention. People don't listen to gentle pleas to be Christ-like, but Steve generally gets people talking with what he does.

Lisa
Yes but how does he get them talking usually, negatively, and I have talked to him about this side of him so it is not something he does not know.

As I said Steve is a very dear friend of mine and I respect him highly, I really do, but sometimes between him and CaDan I do not know who is worse with their antics on the board. And CaDan is a friend of mine too and knows how I feel about what he does too. I also have to work with him in CF Wikipedia. Both of them get attention alright just negative attention. If they knew how to then spin it into positive attention, then hey I would not have a beef with either one of them.
