2nd person - you are there watching yourself, but you refer to yourself as, "You."

In 3rd person you'd refer to yourself as, "Him, her."

You have some impressive mind for a teenager, Obbi

Now you got me...
I'm having problems getting my head around it...
I dunno... books written in the second person work okay because only one person is generally doing the addressing and one person doing the reading.
In a dream, I guess second person would work if it were a 2-person discourse... except of course you'd be addressing yourself, so there would only be one person in the dream....

Ugh... I pass, Obbi. Sorry

Obbi, are you referring to what you call yourself in a dream? Or the difference between looking out of your own eyes and looking out at yourself in the dream.

Those definitions for 1st and 3rd, I believe, differ from their literary counter-parts.

Interesting, my guess is because second person is less common in the visual world.

You normally view life in a first person view, and tv or movies are normally in a third person view. So, you know of these views much more than a second person.

Its similar to the myth that people only dream in black and white. It is thought that that came about because people watched black and white TV, so their brain became adjusted to black and white views.

But visually and literally, the definitions are different.

Literature:
1st Person - "I went to the store." You are recounting a story to someone else.
2nd Person - "You went to the store." Someone is recounting a story about you to you.
3rd Person - "He went to the store." You or someone else is recounting a story about a 3rd party.

Visually:
1st Person - You see out of the eyes of the person you are playing / are. i.e., First Person Shooters.
3rd Person - You have a detached view, seeing the world from a camera in the sky.

Tell me how, visually, you can have a 2nd person view?

I rarely dream in anything other than the 1st person, however I have had some extremely bizarre dreams lately.

Is anyone here fairly skilled at interpreting dreams?

It depends on what you want me to tell you.

You can tell me whatever you want... or feel is right. I can handle it

Take a dream I had a few days ago: (I can only remember bits and pieces)

I was in a jazz bar that must have been during the roaring 20s, all the guys were wearing their pinstripe suits with the hats, and all of the women were in the flashy dresses with long white scarves and the cigarette holders in thier mouths.

I don't remember hearing any music, but I do remember seeing a band.
There is me (I see through my own eyes), my best friend Nick (who I 'know' it was him, but he wasn't in the right body) and my 12th grade math teacher.

I am searching for a girl named Ella, who was my girlfriend while I was in the 8th grade. I am going around asking everyone if they have seen her. I am holding out a picture as if she was lost.
Eventually I hear someone should 'all aboard' and I leave the bar and seemingly instantly I am in an old country farmhouse in the middle of Maine (I don't know it was there for sure, but that's where I felt I was).. I am looking for something else (I don't remember what) and I look out the window and I see a great big byzantine style church that has to be at least a city block big, just sitting out there in the countryside.
I remember walking toward the church, I remember opening the door, but the next thing I remember is I am sitting eating dinner at a Claim Jumper restaurant eating with Nick and my cat.

That is really all I can remember, I know there was more but I lost it after I woke up.

Any clues?
