I think there are less here in Traditional Theology who speak in tongues than there are in many other CF forums.

I would never claim otherwise, yet odds are, as I already indicated, there are so many here that speak in tongues, seems there would be at least one prophet around, even though one might expect several. It really is a fair assumption if you think about it.

I agree with Johnathan. I'd like to share on my experience on a similar dream, if I may. But before I do, I want to say that I believe God can speak through our dreams. Years ago, I too dreamt of snakes. It was eventually evident to me that I was in an atmosphere of life that I shouldn't be in. I wanted to, but knew in my heart that I really shouldn't be. It led me into some real temptations that caused a downward spiral for me. One bad thing after another was happening because I knew I was out of the will of God. I'm not saying I'm perfect, but I've learned the hard way through the years, that it's best to follow God's leading. Then it becomes easier to stay away from the deceivers and cheaters, etc. Why? Because you will "want" to please Him and fellowship with Him will be more enjoyable.First, you must be sure you've been Born Again (Baptized in the Holy Spirit, having the Holy Spirit within you.) If that's true, than you can pray to the Father thru the spirit of Christ to give you the interpretation of the dream. If God is trying to show you something, He will tell you the dream, just like He told Joseph. Almost all dreams (if not all of them) come from the Devil, our flesh, or God. Most are from our flesh...simply our mind "blowing off steam", REM, etc. I have had dreams that explain things and where God has taught me biblical lessons, so I completely believe God still uses dreams. But I believe Satan can too, so you need to ask God. If God can give you the answer Himself, you don't NEED another human being to give you their "interpretation". That is why I said it's MOST important that you know you have the Holy Spirit of God.

So, I've always been taught that we should not try to interpret our dreams.... But I've had a few about snakes lately that are really troubling me, (2 dreams specifically). In one dream, a black snake crawled up the length of my arm & latched on with his fangs, (then I woke up). In another one, a large, black viper was furiously gliding down aisles, with his upper body upright as he glided along... He was on a mission to get me; (I was running/hiding). My life has felt extremely chaotic lately, but I don't know what this would have to do with snake dreams - the 2 with black snakes have kept me concerned.
Any thoughts? Am I concerned about nothing?

I don't know if this fits the bill, but quite some years ago I had a series of episodes where the "tail of a snake" would appear at the end of a dream or nightmare. I'd usually wake up as a result. Now that was back in my Protestant days, so I asked my old pastor what he thought about it. His response was that the devil was getting in on the act somehow, but that was about it.
I became Catholic later. I also happened to pick up a book "Weeds Among the Wheat - Discernment where Prayer and Action Meet" by Thomas H. Green SJ.
It's really a treatise on the discernment afforded by the Ignatian Spiritual Exercises. You'll obviously recognize the "weeds and wheat" term as arising from one of Christ's parables. Whenever I read that parable, I think of external forces - good and bad people for example - wheat and weeds. But in his book, Mr. Green, who is a Jesuit and therefore quite familiar with the Ignatian Spiritual Exercises, treats the wheat and weeds as the good and bad within our own character, which the spiritual exercises help us to discern (I don't do them, in case you're wondering).
To my surprise, I came across the term "tail of the snake" in his book. Since this was what I'd visualised all those years ago way back in my Protestant years, I was intrigued.
He had this to say at one point -"... Nonetheless, it does take keen sight, genuine discernment, to discover the tail of the snake in our consolation experiences. Ignatius says we must examine "the beginning, middle and end" of our consolations. If all three are wholly good, "it is a sign they are from the good angel." If the tail of the snake appears in any of the three - beginning, middle or end - then we should mistrust whole experience, and refuse to be guided by the inspirations which come at such a time. The Ignatian criterion is thus simply stated. But as I and countless other directors and pray-ers have discovered, the practical application of this norm requires years of reflection and experience...."
Now that may not answer your question. For one thing, I'd be surprised if you're doing Ignatian Exercises. But you indicated your life is chaotic at the moment. No doubt the devil is trying to disturb you, and this is just one method. I think you need to get some spiritual advice from an experienced spiritual counsellor, particularly if you're facing the need to make an important decision.
That's my take on it anyway.
