  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

I started a little random drawing about dreams that i had from time to time, and later i did editing for some anime or other stuff that i just randomly pick up, and i feel it helps my depression and helps my growth in spirit....
but i can't go on now, since i lack real knowledge of doing it better, my skills r still those old and stubborn, .....so i tried to learn from a book by myself , then i still quit, that book could not interest me, so i back to my own skills again, or sometimes learnt a bit from others' art....
but there is a friend once told me that i must seek a professional school to have good training, otherwise my skill will be too self-made,it would lead me to a wrong direction or self-made drawing style, and it won't be easy to change to a right track as time goes.....
is that so, really so dangerous?
but right now the random self-made style seems to suit for my soul....

I know that this response is a bit late, seeing as I've never been on this section before, lol.

If you're just in for it for fun, keep it that way. Art can be therapeutic, and sometimes, you don't really need someone to guide you. There is such thing as naive art, outsider art, or folk art.

It's a good idea to know a bit about human and animal anatomy, perspectives, and such for your benefits. If you want to get a little more serious, taking art classes might be a good idea.

As and artist and art teacher with extensive training I very much believe in training. You don't need to give up you style but learning other styles and the rules that are common to them will help you grow into your style. Art is about rule breaking and pushing the boundaries but if you don't really understand the rules you can't really bend or break those rules and styles very effectively. Just take the learning process slow and make it digestible try new things regardless of how comfortable you are. My best prices are often mistakes we call happy accidents and it only happens when you are exploring new ideas. Try it digest it and if you don't like it leave it out.

I agree its good to learn about other styles, but I think it is truly important to stick with what you feel represents you. Many people find art to be an expression of their soul and their feelings. The art I create is an expression of my soul and the subjects that inspire me. Please enjoy your art journey if its what makes you happy.

Stay blessed. :)
