Hi, I really enjoyed the old show with David Janssen and recurring appearances by Barry Morse... and the occasionals by Bill Raisch as Fred Johnson, the one-armed man. I thought the two-part finale was the only colour episode, turns out the whole fourth season was colour.
The innocent Dr. Kimble wouldn't last long in today's world with the Internet, "America's Most Wanted", but something that baffles me about the old show is that, although it was obvious to Gerard and others that Kimble had darkened his hair, the wanted posters were never updated, neither were pictures circulated when they knew Kimble was in an area.
The series very rarely had humour, but when it did, it was well used. For example, the episode where a dragnet was trying to find Kimble in a few city blocks; the two men were arguing about Kimble while he sat in their apartment. There were moments of levity when the nun and he were driving over the high sierras.
Kimble once went to Alaska, which seems like a mistake since he risked being stranded there. Only once did he take an airplane flight.
Some actors returned more than once to portray different characters. Tim O'Connor played a diphtheria doctor once, a wounded Korea vet another time. Andrew Prine (from "V") played Kimble's brother one time, a no-good another time.
Gerard didn't show up every time! And two different actresses played Helen, two different actors played Kimble's brother-in-law.
Billy Mumy ("Lost In Space") played a nephew once when Kimble snuck back into Stafford, IN.
I think Mrs. Gerard was played by at least two different actresses.
The original Kimble was not afraid to get his hands dirty working terrible, thankless jobs.
Good series. ABC dialed up a winner with it, and kudos for being one of the few TV series with closure!
And no, he didn't do it! It _was_ the one-armed man!
(I made an episode log and tried to note every false name that Kimble gave out for himself. Doesn't include the Greek fellow who wanted to fake he was Kimble and fly home to Greece so that he could get Gerrard off of Kimble's trail.)
