I really don't see how threads like these are a problem. Maybe if the title read, "Ask me stuff that we can talk about", or something like that.

And FWIW, although I was serious in responding to questions, my thread was a bit of a play on other "ask me" threads. Hence the huge number of polysyllabic adjectives with the ironic "stuff" at the end.

That last sentence, while not an outright question, does sound a bit inquisitive in nature, so I will respond with a rant:

Before Professor BL starts ripping tendons and ligaments with his typical knee-jerk reaction to my posts, he should realize that I, not being one of the many meddlesome extremists of this world, can't let him advocate measures that others criticize for being excessively wily. Allow me now to offer you an exemplum of how pot-valiant he can be: He uses highfalutin' terms like "parallelogrammatical" and "hippopotomonstrosesquipidelian" to conceal his plans to give an air of scientific impartiality to his biased judgments. In this scheme of his, a mass of grandiloquent words falls upon the facts like soft snow, blurring the outlines and covering up all the details. We become unable to see that according to BL, officialism is a sine qua non for mankind's happiness. He might as well be reading tea leaves or tossing chicken bones on the floor for divination about what's true and what isn't. Maybe then BL would realize that relative to just a few years ago, ultra-ribald attercops are nearly ten times as likely to believe that profits come before people. This is neither a coincidence nor simply a sign of the times. Rather, it reflects a sophisticated, psychological warfare program designed by BL to turn me, a typically mild-mannered person, into a mad, bestial vat of presentism. Unfortunately, I can already see the response to this post. Someone, possibly Professor BL himself or one of his associates, who are legion, will write a high-handed piece about how pusillanimous I am. If that's the case, then so be it. What I just wrote sorely needed to be written.
