  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

I watched parts of it a couple of weeks ago and found it to be very very strange and hard to follow... I'm one of those people who didn't get it...

Time travel is always perplexing. ^.^ My mom watched it tonight and said she didn't like it until the last 20 minutes, where everything really tied together. :) She was amused at how much Donnie acts like me. :D

You have to see the Director's Cut to really appreciate it.

Indeed. ^.^ I actually have never seen the cut version, I watched the Director's Cut and that's it. :) But I've been told the extra scenes do make it better.

Is it anything like 12 Monkeys? I know that movie would lose you if you blinked too long, much less went to the bathroom w/o pausing. :D

Of sorts. It does have it's moment where one party of time interacts with another to change the time line as a whole to start the first party to interact with the second and - oh no I've gone cross eyed.

I watched it while doing a res competition, so I couldn't watch/hear perfectly the whole time. I thought it was quite an entertaining movie though. I was a bit shocked at the ending... I really felt for Donnie... That bunny freaked me right out though...

It is a great film. A bit confusing the first time you see it, specially if you see the shorter cut; If you're gonna see it for the first time, go with the Director's Cut. The longer version is more sci-fi and fleshes out more some of the secondary characters.
Besides, Jena Malone is in it. And she's just the cutest thing ever.

The cover of "Mad World" by Gary Jules- the song at the end- was just incredible.

***SPOILER WARNING***

I don't think its time travel per se, rather Donnie gets a chance to see what happens if he survives the disaster at the beginning.

If he survives, alot of other people die, including his mom, new girlfriend, and sister. If he dies, all the other people live.

Its bizarre, but it all makes sense, I think? :)

SPOILER BELOW!!!!!! Please stop reading!!!;) Yes!! That's exactly what I think! The first time I saw Donnie Darko, it shocked me. But as I watched it a few more times, I came up with that conclusion as well. Donnie is given the chance to see what his life would be like if he had chosen a different/wrong path. After seeing the tragedy of the ones he loved, he decided to give his life for them. He was given the chance to risk their lives for his or to give himself for the safety of the ones he loved. Ex.: After Donnie sees Jena Malone's character killed, he would rather risk not knowing her than to know her and watch her die and suffer without her. I think the scientific perspective was there to hide the true meaning of the movie. The EASY meaning: follow your given path. Try and alter your path and it will be harder to live. I think it was a great movie, even though the language is a little over-done. :)
