President Donald Trump's administration has reached an agreement with Kyiv on a rare earth mineral deal that Ukrainian officials hope will strengthen ties with the Trump administration and lay the groundwork for a long-term U.S. security commitment.

According to both outlets, Ukrainian officials say they are now prepared to sign the agreement on jointly developing the country's mineral resources, including oil and gas, after the U.S. dropped demands for a $500 billion share in potential revenue from resource exploitation. The deal is viewed as a form of compensation for America's wartime assistance to Kyiv amid Russia's invasion.
