Doing things the hard way

The Dr. Zaius of America’s corporate takeover of the universe, Ray Kroc, didn’t even open the first McDonalds until well after his 50th birthday. Proof that even my wasted years can be salvaged. As I begin to plan my exit from military service, I realize the Lord has been calling me to his service for many years. Who am I to refuse? Of course I have no idea where to begin. Anyone willing to help?

Hmm, where to start....first off-what do you like to do? Or what are you good at?

I like to work with kids. Kids or teenagers, I guess. I tell most people that I can't stand them, but people who know me know better. As for what I'm good at . . . That's different. I am a Marine. I am good at shooting . . . leading . . . running, jumping and hitting stuff. I'm not very deep. Plus, I lead a rough life, and can get very uncomfortable around people who have it good.

I like teens too, but being around them freaks me out. So the net works out really well for me.
I love them a lot though. I'm thinking about working with troubled teens or going into counseling maybe.
The wasted years...they teach you a lot, which in turn allows you to understand and help others out. I'd love to be able to go back and make up for the time I wasted, but being able to use my past to help people out is an alternative I don't mind so much.

Jack Kerouac said "Life is funny."
That's a good description of trying to follow the Call.
