The Washington Post obtained an email detailing how the US Department of Labor’s bureau of international labor affairs (ILAB) will immediately end grants totaling more than $500m that supported labor standard enforcement across 40 countries, including critical initiatives in Mexico, Central America, south-east Asia and Africa.

John Clark, a Trump-appointed official, in the email justified the cuts by citing a “lack of alignment with agency priorities and national interest”. The department’s spokesperson, Courtney Parella, echoed this sentiment, telling the Post that the administration wants to prioritize “investments in the American workforce”.

Those people we are pulling the rug out on will someday be joining AL Quaeda, Hamas, and other terrorist groups. Desperate poverty is the breeding ground for terrorism.

I remember hearing about child labor 20 years ago. Do you mean it's still around? How many human trafficked do we have in our country, waste of money.
Not only is child labor still around--the governor of Arkansas just eliminated child labor protections there.
So perhaps we'll see a resurgence of child labor here. With the elimination of government aid to food pantries they'll have to work to eat.

Working to eat worked out well in the 1930s.

They yearn for the mines!

I remember as a kid in Arkansas exploring the manganese mines near Cushman and being greatly disappointed they weren't like the mine in Snow White.

Remember when everybody on the right was screaming about human trafficking? lol
Please. Not "lol". The Church based anti-slavery patrols will continue. My Church sends trained young women undercover amongst both the sex-industry and embassy zones to connect with victims of forced labour and offer them options to escape. These missions "fly under the media radar" as most victims just want to get back to their families quickly and safely. My church provides safe houses until repatriation can be arranged. The Australian Govt quietly assists with emergency travel documents and air fares. The embassy victims are typically not citizens of the country the embassy represents, so the victim's own country accepts them back.
If you are against slavery, please find out more about Church based anti-slavery patrols.

No offense, but this sounds incredibly irresponsible.

The program has run for many decades, and Australia is very much safer than the USA.
Etiquette is that these things stay under the radar or Police and or the Foreign Ministry descend from a very great height.
The ops are mostly in daylight and intelligence led.
So they don't 'wander around' 'blind' in the dark, if that is what you are thinking.
Facebook and messenger help with the HUMINT intelligence side.
The "young women" may also be police officers, or defence force members.
Other churches run programs using men as "potential Johns" in SE Asia. That's hairy.
Samaritans Purse deployed a field hospital into Ukraine on Day 10 of the war. Oh, to see the Risk Mgmt plan for that!
But the Free Burma Rangers probably take first prize for hairy Church ops. An SF background is preferred.
(I saw footage of a round actually taking the heel off the boot of David Eurbank during a rescue under gunfire.... :-O)

From my vantage point it seems as if the Trump Administration is working very hard to try to manufacture fake crises to deflect from the disastrous economy, the deportations without due process and daily scandals.
Ain't working with me.

Well, labour standards is what increases the cost of producing things.
So if USA is upset that other countries are able to make stuff cheaper than what the USA can do and hence the factories and jobs are overseas.

So Trump removing this push for standards, is. the opposite of what he is trying to achieve with his Tarrifs.

If you want a fair world trade environment, you want your trade competitors having similar employment standards, similar Environmental protections, similar income tax, similar minimum wages etc to your own country.

Getting rid of this initiative allows USA's trade competitors to make things cheaper than USA.

It amazed me to discover the amount of technology and power that the Democrats possess. They have the Obama time machine and weather dominator, they have Jewish space lasers, they have the ability to make Congress a dysfunctional bunch of idiots whenever the Republicans win the President and both the House of Representatives and Senate, and they can destroy the stock market as soon as a Republican takes office.
