  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Not a wierd question at all! Of course you want to know what it is you have, and shyness is a characteristic of this animal.

Here is a quote from a Coyote sighting website that may be useful to you:

"Coyote Characteristics
The coyote is a member of the dog family. Its size and shape is similar to a medium-sized Collie, but its tail is round and bushy. They weigh between 15-45 pounds and are 40-60 inched long including tail.

The coyote is one of the most adaptable animals in the world. They are common in most rural areas, but because of their secretive nature, few are seen. Efforts to control or exterminate the coyote by predator control agents seem to have produced an animal that is extremely alert and wary and well able to maintain itself.

The coyote travels and hunts both day and night. It has a varied diet and seems able to exist on whatever the area offers in the way of food."

It sounds like you have a beautiful creature! Have you selected a name yet?

I love exotic pets. Right now I'm fascinated with wolves and I want a purebred. It will be some time before I actually own one, though.
a few weeks ago i was at an apple festival and they had these wolves there that were rescued and up for adoption..they were purebred and were only 150 to adopt if i remember correctly..have u ever thought of maybe adopting?..

Alice sounds like a great name. Like a loyal dog, holding down the fort! :)
shes only slighty territorial with the "fort" shes getting more and more tho..shes starting to bark more like when people knock on the door or she hears a noise...but she still doesnt really bark that much...shes still kind of unsure about herself...shes not very outgoing but shes slowly coming around

Oh, heavens-I'd love to, more than you could know. Right now I'm looking into local ordinances to see if they are legal here. I know they are in my state. The problem is, then I would have to obtain a permit for the containment. I'm not sure what the city would say. But I do know people who work for the city, so that might be a good thing if they come to the meeting. I think it would be great fun to hear a wolf howling outside our window.

It sounds like Alice is a delight. :) As she gets older she'll probably gain more assertion. Right now she looks to you, her "Daddy" to keep her safe. THe little puppy yips and that. But as her bark grows louder and more assertive, she'll start paying closer attention to noises.

You know I don't find that weird at all.
There is this dog that have similar qualities you described living as a stray here.
She is so gentle but she is afraid of people.
I have fed her for 8 months and I feel she may have coyote in her also.
I have tried to get close too her but she will seldom let me touch her.
She loves other animals but is afraid of people.
I would love to tame her and get her spayed but she just wants food.
She still does not trust me.
I don't know for sure what to look for to be sure but this is exactly what I thought ...that she was part coyote.
