  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I have a 1 year old German Shepherd mix who has always been excellent at staying in the backyard! I thought I was just lucky!

Well this morning I was laying on the couch, when I noticed something outside in the front lawn the window and all of a sudden Piper (my dog) was standing at the window looking in at me!

The only thing I can figure is she jumped the fence, and luckily she just walked right around the house!

Is there anyway to teach her not to jump the fence? or do we just have to build a bigger fence? (which we don't have the money to do right now)

fence check: look a offset on the ground level on one side to the other that would make the fence shorter to the dog, look for a dug through spot where she could go under. if it's a wood plank fence, check for loose boards.

if there's a spot where ground level makes it short, get some plywood and make it a bit taller. (not pretty, but cheap)

we used to have a siberian husky, abolute fantastic dog, but she was a fence hopper, we got an electric invisible fence kit, with the little collar, and she had such thick fur, for it to have any effect it had to be on tight, after a while the electrodes dug into her skin and made sores, then the skin grew back around the electrodes. i will never put one of those things on any dog ever again. if i had know that would happen it would have never been bought.
