  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

My "little girl" does. When she hears me singing, I don't know if she doesn't understand it, but she [bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse] her head, she stares at me, and then begins whining along with me. When I stop, she stops, too.

Now that you mention it, my last dog did that, too. When I would practice my instrument for school (this back in the 80s), he'd sit next to me, tip his head back and howl, lol! I thought maybe he didn't like the higher pitches since that's when he did his singing, but what I could never figure out was why he didn't move farther away if it bothered him. He sat right next to the horn of my instrument. He also howled when my mother would sing and hit those high notes. I still don't get it. Maybe I'll pull out my instrument again and see if this dog does the same.

My dog loved my daughters fisher price piano.(three keys that hit the metal plate)
He would bite and hit the keys to play music then would bark.

The piano man he wasn't but it was halarius.

To FP credit, the piano lasted 2 hours before the first key was destroyed.
6hours later the piano came apart completely.(not 6 hours straight, but over several times of playing with it)
My dog ate a "nyla-bone" in an hour. He has a chewing problem.

LOL :D

My boy doesn't sing, but if I dance, he's "beside" himself, and has to join in the 'playing'.

Aren't they great!?

My dogs dont sing with me (although when my mom's playing the piano one of them thinks she can play too! LoL), but Dinky, my mommie dog, talks up a storm! Expecially in the morning! She just talks and talks. We've taught her to say some words to. For every "phrase" and "word" we teach her, she has different tones and barks/whines for it (it's sooo adorable!). We've taught her to say "Please." "No." "Shut Up." (my dad taught her that one. :: rolls eyes and giggles:: and, "I love you." The last one is her favorite to say, and she has to say it in order to get a treat. It's so cute. Her daughter, Lady, is starting to pick up on the words too.

I hope you people do know that when you play an instrument it can hurt the dog's ears and some dogs will howl REALLY loud to block it out because it hurts there ears. Dogs have a hearing sensitivity of 8,000 Hz. The upper frequency limit of sensitivity for the dog is much higher than for humans, dogs responding to about 48,000 Hz. This is the reason the "silent whistles" work with dogs. They are more tuned to the dog's best hearing range than to the humans. Dogs can hear the whistles and humans can't just like you can hear the piano and it could possibly hurt the dogs ears because its WAY to loud.

May not be true for all dogs but loud stuff hurts majority of the dogs ears and they will howl to make the sound go away...sometimes even come close to the thing that is making the noise and try to make it go away by howling even loudier. But many dogs dont have a problem with it but some dogs do.
