No and unfortuntely I doubt it will be the last. The media will always pick on a church when it happens though.

There is no way to make sure it will never happen again but the church MUST stop the coverups. Its not good enough to sweep these people under the carpets because more children will suffer. Next time its reported the church needs to go straight to the authorities instead of attempting to deal with it themselves. These people need to accept the consequences of their sin.

I am sadden to see this because I take it as giving Christianity a black eye. No church is safe from predators. Evil lives in our ranks and, as long as we let it, it will continue. The CC should not have covered it up but it is to late now. We must purge predators from our churches.

I saw a follow-up story on Fox, and checked their website to make sure I heard what I thought I heard because, frankly, Cardinal Mahony made a promise that seems fairly impossible to make.

According to the story, Mahony has promised such abuse "will not happen again."

How can he possibly make such a promise?

Unfortunately for the faith.

We must take such bruises even though they are not meant fo us.

We are not given the luxury of distancing ourselves from those whos fruit clearly demonstrate who they are a child of.

In many ways it is like the new board policy, of anyone being able to name it and claim it if they choose to call themselves a Christian.

for the lost, and ignorant, we both will be lumped together under the umbrella, just as the wheat and tares are raised together, until the harvest.
however for the discerning, the fruit is the key to differientiation of the two.

Regardless, pedophiles must not be tolerated! They got off too easy this time-but they WILL face another Judge.

What did Jesus say? Something like:
"If any offend one of these little ones that believe in me, it would be better if a millstone were hanged around his neck and he were drowned in the deepest sea."
