Where does the Pope get this doctrine, its not in scripture, and you cant just declare you have the power of God which is not sanctioned.

Well, as I was looking for what scripture says and found nothing, but came across something elsewhere on the issue, this interesting take on the Popes infallibility, interesting reading to say the least...

"...we are responsible as Catholics to understand, not only what the Church teaches, but what the Church doesn't teach to help clear up these misconceptions. The Church teaches in a simple summary that the Holy Father, the Pope, the Bishop of Rome, as the successor to Peter and the Vicar of Christ, when he speaks as the universal teacher from the Chair of Peter in defining faith and morals does so with an infallible charism or an infallible gift through the Holy Spirit so that we can give to him the full assent of our intellect and our will, and we can hear the voice of Christ coming to us through the voice of the Pope when he is speaking in this capacity. "

The Roman Catholic church primarily uses this passage to claim it's authority (through the Holy Spirit of course).

Matth 16:17 Jesus replied, “Blessed are you, Simon son of Jonah, for this was not revealed to you by flesh and blood, but by my Father in heaven. 18 And I tell you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of Hades will not overcome it. 19 I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven; whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.”

Not that I agree with them.......

But Peter is not the "rock" upon which the church is built. After Peter spoke these words, "You are the Christ, the Son of the living God," Jesus said, "Upon that Rock will I build My church." And the keys of the kingdom are given to all who become one with Christ. The keys of the kingdom are the truths for our time, the special messages of truth that God has entrusted to His people and which are to be proclaimed to all the world in demonstration and power of the Holy Spirit.

In very simple terms, here is the very first key of the kingdom:

"There is salvation for you but only through the merits of Jesus Christ." Testimonies to Ministers,97.

Hence, "Present your case (sinful, helpless, dependent) before Him pleading the merits of the blood shed for you upon Calvary's cross." Faith & Works,106. *parenthesis supplied

This is our only plea and it is the condition of entrance into the kingdom of God for,

"As we acknowledge before God our appreciation of Christ's merits, fragrance is given to our intercessions. As we approach God through the virtue of the Redeemer's merits, Christ places us close by His side, encircling us with His human arm, while with His divine arm He grasps the throne of the Infinite. He puts His merits as sweet incense in the censor in our hands in order to encourage our petitions." E.G. White, Our Father Cares,120.

This teaches very clearly how we become one with Christ and with the Father: by approaching the throne of grace through the virtue of the Redeemer's merits.

And the Holy Spirit says, "This is the way of the Lord. Walk ye in it!"

And we are greatly blessed.

"You want to be like little children, hanging upon the merits of a crucified and risen Saviour. Then you will be fortified. How? The angels of God will be around you as a wall of fire. The righteousness of Christ which you claim goes before you and the glory of God is your rearward. God sanctify our tongues, our thoughts, our minds, that we may dwell upon heavenly themes, and that we may impart that knowledge to others." E.G. White, Ms 9,1891.

The merits of Christ are the foundation of the Christian's faith. This is the most important key of the kingdom. Another key of the kingdom is the 2,300 day prophecy for it is the foundation of the Advent Movement. This is another key of the kingdom as far as we are concerned and the truths of the Sabbath and the non-immortality of the soul are part of it.

Another key of the kingdom is the "knowledge of God" as obtained through the understanding of the relation between nature and nature's God. It is written that the effect of this knowledge on body and mind and soul is beyond estimate. This is probably the least understood.

Another key of the kingdom has to do with the principles of God's dealing with man which are ever the same. This is another key which is very little understood. The very first principle being that God does not stand toward the sinner as an executioner of the sentence against transgression but that He leaves the rejectors of His mercy to themselves to reap that which they have sown.

And, of course, studying last day events especially in the context of Daniel 11:40-45 and Revelation 13-19 is also an important part of finding many other keys of the kingdom of God.

I agree with you. Reddogs asked where they got their doctrine and I showed it. That doesn't mean I agree with them.
