You were the one who claimed that Scripture supports the idea of a Purgatory and suggested we read another man's writings about how to interpret Scripture...so what Scripture has to say about the matter established the ground rules as YOU set them before us. And Scripture clearly does not support the theory.

Saying that sola scriptura is "false doctrine" is a false statement. How can one apply a false interpretation of Scripture if sola scriptura is "false doctrine"?

Well no, the Catholic Church isn’t a “denomination”
Denominations are all schisms from the Catholic church.
For example, if you look at the a tree it has a base and it has branches. The Catholic Church is the base, the church that has existed since the day of pentecost, the branches are all little sects and schisms from the church that came about in the 1600’s known as denominations.

They reject sola scriptura and reject protestant sola fide.

I will stick with what the body of believers were in agreement with for 1600 years until the false prophet heretic Martin Luther came along

All right. In that case we know for certain that the body of believers did NOT always believe what you were referring to. The belief didn't even exist until centuries later.

Even though your post is off-topic...

The Catholic church is a denomination. There is no mention of it in the Bible -- anywhere. It is just one of many Christian denominations. "Denomination" is defined as a recognized autonomous branch of the Christian Church.

You say that the Catholic denomination has existed since the day of Pentecost, yet there is no mention of "Catholic" in the Bible. Christianity has existed since the day of Pentecost. If there is a denomination that has existed since the day of Pentecost, it's clearly Eastern Orthodox (which isn't mentioned in the Bible either).

It's irrelevant that all those denominations agree in a post mortem purification, intercession of the saints, baptismal regeneration and reject sola scriptura and sola fide. That is exactly what makes them denominations!

And to get back to the OP, there is no such thing as purgatory. It's a denominational invention that isn't mentioned in Scripture.

As for going straight-way to heaven after death, consider Ecclesiates 12:7:
and the dust returns to the ground it came from,

No. The doctrine of purgatory is a man-made idea based on lack of understanding what happens at death of our flesh.

In Luke 16, Lord Jesus revealed what happens at flesh death. Our soul with spirit goes to one side or the other in Paradise. This is why Jesus said the malefactor crucified with Him that believed would be with Him in Paradise that day.

On one side is the abode of the wicked called 'hell', where the rich man was in torments of heat. The Greek for 'torment' is about a touchstone. A touchstone was a stone used to strike against a piece of ore to determine how much gold content was in the ore. So spiritually, the touchstone is a symbol for measure, and the rich man did not 'measure up', and thus was in torments.

On the other side of the great gulf fixed border, was Abraham and those comforted in Christ.

Yes. The word "Paradise" comes from the Greek parádeisos. Heaven is an old English equivalent from the word "heofon". They have come to mean the same thing.

Not for this present world, but it will be in the world to come.

Did you not understand Genesis 2 about God's Garden of Eden being upon this earth prior to Adam's fall?

I mean, we were even shown how God's River flowed out of His Garden there, and fed four other rivers upon the earth, two of which we still know where they are today, the Hiddekel (Tigris), and the Euphrates, both in modern day Iraq.

In Ezekiel 47 and Revelation 22, we are shown that River of the Waters of Life returning to this earth. So those waters are not just a metaphor for God's Salvation, they are actually literal waters that will heal this earth.

The dreamy up-in-the-clouds Salvation ideas is an idea created by men's traditions, and is not written. Even when Jesus comes in the clouds, it doesn't mean He stops right there, for Zechariah 14 tells us His feet will touch down upon the Mount of Olives east of Jerusalem, which is where He ascended to Heaven from per Acts 1.

Disciplined Bible study for oneself is the great equalizer against men's traditions.
