Joshua 24:15
And if it seems evil to you to serve the Lord, choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve...

Deut 7:
1When the LORD thy God shall bring thee into the land whither thou goest to possess it, and hath cast out many nations before thee, the Hittites, and the Girgashites, and the Amorites, and the Canaanites, and the Perizzites, and the Hivites, and the Jebusites, seven nations greater and mightier than thou;
2And when the LORD thy God shall deliver them before thee; thou shalt smite them, and utterly destroy them; thou shalt make no covenant with them, nor shew mercy unto them:
3Neither shalt thou make marriages with them; thy daughter thou shalt not give unto his son, nor his daughter shalt thou take unto thy son
. 4For they will turn away thy son from following me, that they may serve other gods: so will the anger of the LORD be kindled against you, and destroy thee suddenly.
5But thus shall ye deal with them; ye shall destroy their altars, and break down their images, and cut down their groves, and burn their graven images with fire.
6For thou art an holy people unto the LORD thy God: the LORD thy God hath chosen thee to be a special people unto himself, above all people that are upon the face of the earth.

7The LORD did not set his love upon you, nor choose you, because ye were more in number than any people; for ye were the fewest of all people: 8But because the LORD loved you, and because he would keep the oath which he had sworn unto your fathers, hath the LORD brought you out with a mighty hand, and redeemed you out of the house of bondmen, from the hand of Pharaoh king of Egypt. 9Know therefore that the LORD thy God, he is God, the faithful God, which keepeth covenant and mercy with them that love him and keep his commandments to a thousand generations;

God choose Abraham ...and his seed ... They did not choose him to be their God..

God chooses His people ....

There is no condemnation from God, but plenty of it from the Reformed.

There is plenty of condemnation before God ...

But not for those that are HIS

Romans 8;1Therefore there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.2For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has set you free from the law of sin and of death.…

Did the nation of Israel choose their God
The nation of Israel did not choose their God, but God chose Israel for a very specific purpose -- primarily to bring Messiah to the world -- a Light to lighten the Gentiles, and the glory of thy people Israel (Lk 2:32).

But Israel by and large rebelled against God, against His Christ, and against His Gospel, thus Paul's lament (Rom 9:1-5): I say the truth in Christ, I lie not, my conscience also bearing me witness in the Holy Ghost, That I have great heaviness and continual sorrow in my heart. For I could wish that myself were accursed from Christ for my brethren, my kinsmen according to the flesh: Who are Israelites; to whom pertaineth the adoption, and the glory, and the covenants, and the giving of the law, and the serviceof God, and the promises; Whose are the fathers, and of whom as concerning the flesh Christ came, who is over all, God blessed for ever. Amen.

By the same token, had grace been irresistible, Paul would not have had "great heaviness and continual sorrow" since they all would have been irresistibly saved. After all, to them pertained the adoption, the glory, the covenants, the Law, the service of God, the promises, and the Messiah. Think about it! They had every advantage and every opportunity, but the majority remained unsaved. The strongest evidence against Five Point Calvinism is Israel!

I said this:
"The doctrine of election seems to be misunderstood by most. We know from Rom 9:11 that God's choice, or election, always has a purpose. "for though the twins were not yet born and had not done anything good or bad, so that God’s purpose according to His choice would stand, not because of works but because of Him who calls"

Also, Scripture describes at least 6 different "categories" of the elect:
1. Election of Christ: an individual election
1 Pet 2:6Isa 28:16Isa 42:1 Luke 9:35Luke 23:35
2. Election of Angels
: a group or corporate election
1 Tim 5:21
3. Election of Israel:
a group or corporate election
Amos 3:2Deut 7:6Acts 13:17
4. Election of believers:
a group or corporate election
Eph 1:4a [note: this verse doesn’t say that God chose who would be believers, but that He chose believers…to be holy and blameless]
5.1 Peter 2:9
The Election of the 12 Disciples: a group or corporate election John 6:70
(including Judas)
The Election ofPaul: an individual election Acts 9:15

Notice that none of these categories of election were chosen for salvation.

Eph 1:4 tells us who the elect are: believers, from Eph 1:19 - and what is the surpassing greatness of His power toward us who believe. These are in accordance with the working of the strength of His might

So, let's plug in "us who believe" into Eph 1:4 - just as He chose us who believe in Him before the foundation of the world, that we would be holy and blameless before Him. In love

It seems many think Eph 1:4 God choosing who will believe, it's quite the opposite. It's believers who He has chosen.

The phrase "falling away" doesn't refer to loss of salvation, but rather, leaving the practice and/or belief of the Christian life. The reason one cannot fall away as in losing salvation is because Jesus told us that those who believe are held by the Father, not the other way around.

John 10:28-29 - My Father, who has given them to Me, is greater than all; and no one is able to snatch them out of the Father’s hand. 30“I and the Father are one.”"
Did the nation of Israel choose their God
Kind of a silly question, huh. Apparently the 6 categories of election eluded you. See #3 regarding Israel. God chose Israel, as I noted.

Instead of unnecessary questions, how about actually engaging my post and addressing each of the categories of what the Bible calls election. And then deal with my points about the FACT that none of these elections are about being chosen for salvation.

I have great heaviness and sadness for the non elect.. I do not want people I love here to go to hell .

But what I know is Gods righteousness will always choose correctly ..

I have great concern for people that can not rightly divide the word of God.. and understand things like Gods election of Israel

The Lord Jesus Himself said: "Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you that ye go forth and bear fruit." (John 15.16)
This is the express purpose for God choosing believers, per Eph 1:4; to go forth and bear fruit.

Seems your view is that God chooses who will believe. Why is that? What verse leads to that idea?

I have great concern for people that can not rightly divide the word of God.. and understand things like Gods election of Israel
I've given a Biblical list of 6 categories of election. Care to discuss any of them?
