• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Does God regret creating people?

I admit I have no real idea who God really is because of decades of spiritual abuse by my sperm donor and many "churches" that reinforced it, but I really wonder if God thinks, "Geez, I regret creating people. I should've named the animals myself and surrounded myself with a bunch of them."

How many times do I hear people say, "my dog/cat is better than any human I've known." I wonder if God has had the same thought--a lot.

Hey Lauren ;)

I could answer you in an email, but I'll answer here.

There is a few verses in the Bible that would seem to indicate this particular thought. That God was "sorry" for creating mankind. But it's more used in terms of language we as humans understand.

Genesis 6:7 And the Lord said, "I will blot out man whom I have created from the face of the land, from man to animals to creeping things and to birds of the sky, for I am sorry that I have made them." (New American Standard Bible)

KJV translates "for I am sorry" to "for it repenteth me"

When you first read this voice it does seem like God is sorry He created mankind, and you could get the wrong impression that it was a "mistake". But God knows everything. So when God created mankind, God knew that they would disobey, but God chose to create us anyway.

As the example you used with pets. Pets are wonderful. They're great therapy, loving, and provide us with company and laughs. However, they get into trouble themselves. They make messes where they shouldn't, eat things they're not suppose to, chew / tear up furniture. So when you decide to get a pet, you know there are some times when that pet is going to make you get upset. But you know that the benefit of having that pet outweighs the bad things it will do. In the same way, even though God knew that we would disobey, God already had a plan for us to be redeemed through Christ. So while I think we as humans can make God sad at times, we can also bring joy, glory, and love by accepting salvation through Jesus and that good part, outweighs any negative that we may have done before.

Thats a reasonable question sometimes. The sheer amount of pain and misery in this world is horrifying.

But in taking on all of humanity's pain and suffering Jesus forcefully declared that people did really matter to Father and Son. Jesus also means we have hope - it will not always be like it is now - which is what His resurrection declared.
