Was eating of the tree of knowledge the only way to become like God?

Gen 2:16 And the Lord God commanded the man, “You are free to eat from any tree in the garden; 17 but you must not eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, for when you eat from it you will certainly die.”

To me it seems like man did not consider to eat it until the serpent tempted him.

Gen 3:4 “You will not certainly die,” the serpent said to the woman. 5 “For God knows that when you eat from it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.” 6 When the woman saw that the fruit of the tree was good for food and pleasing to the eye, and also desirable for gaining wisdom, she took some and ate it. She also gave some to her husband, who was with her, and he ate it."

Was Satan a necessary evil for us to be like God, knowing good and evil?

Is there scriptural support for the position that temptation/evil requires Satan?

The position that Satan is required for evil refutes the "Einstein Argument" that evil is just the absence of God.

God already created all.
A place where wickedness isn't, is good.

If Einstein says that evil doesnt exist in God, does that mean Einstein agrees with God?

Scriptual evidence? God doesnt tempt.

God can do no wrong, he can punish the wicked. There is no evil in him.

James 1:13
When tempted, no one should say, “God is tempting me.” For God cannot be tempted by evil, nor does he tempt anyone;

Is pain a necessary for you AnticipateHC?

We dont have a purpose for wickedness. I must have just offended nearly 3/4 of the entire forum.

Pain/suffering was a result of Satan in the world. It is necessary result of knowing good and evil.

I have heard that the devil and the flesh are so akin to one another that it hard to discern the difference. So since the devil and the flesh are akin, it is hard to say whether or not who is responsible for the origins of the sin.

But this I will say, take the devil out of this world for a thousand years and one do you have? A thousand years of peace! Re-introduce the devil to this world and you have instant warfare. So the devil is indeed an instigator of evil.

Have you not read this, "the Word was made flesh"?
Jesus was not sinful. Adam was not sinful when first created.
Scripture records sin only after man was tempted.

God is already the Maker of all. "Claiming" to be it, and being it, aren't the same thing.

Matthew 4.

An idiot attempts to claim all, God is already all.

"Pictures a serpent on a string".
