  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

You have heard things back and forth because it really depends on the baby. The good thing, is that if they spit up, they usually only spit up what extra they ate. It will look like alot more, but it really isn't. If you find that he consistently spits up after every feeding, there could be two reasons, 1) you have a spit up baby (yes they do exist, some babies just seem more prone to spitting up. 2) He is overeating. Either way I wouldn't be too concerned.

Andie would always stop when she wasn't hungry anymore. And it's like Katydid says, lots of babies, if they spit up alot right after they eat, that can mean they ate too much.

I just mainly tried to keep the amount she was eating (formula ounces/day) within the guidelines that her pediatrician had told me was good for her. Some days it might be less, some days more, but as long as it averaged out over a couple days I wasn't really concerned.

If they arn't born knowing they will learn, I think breast is easier, cause some of the sucking on an empty breast is just to tell mom to make more, it is a natural instinct in babies, for a good reason!

For bottles, well get used to lots of wasted formula whan a 'starving' kid drinks two sips them is done :) (too bad you can't reabsorb it like nursing moms :( wasted loot and all that.)

I would rather clean a small amount of spit (ok it looks HUGE! but really is prolly less than an ounce, way less) than leave a kid hungry.

What they said ^ and just to add - do you know when you feel full? Sometimes we overeat too (buffets, for example). ;)

Now if they are older around 2 and 3, they really only like to eat when they are hungry and it's generally not that much. I give my girls smaller portions and let them ask for seconds rather than nagging at them to eat (which I still have to do sometimes). I also give small healthy (for the most part) snacks during the day.
