Hi there, I was wondering if there is anyone here who knows about, what I think is called the "Patriachy Movement"

What I know about them is this. They are extremely religious. They aim for perfection. They don't seem to have a relationship with God, but are obsessed with "the scriptures". They back up everything they say with scripture. They seem to completely devalue women, putting alot of emphases on wives "submitting" to their husbands. The women seem to be completely at the disposal of their husbands, and don't have any rights at all. If their husbands abuse them, they must stay and put up with it. The woman is not allowed to leave her husband, unless he commits adultery and is unrepentant, and if she divorces him, she is not allowed to remarry, as they say she would be living in "constant adultery". The women there are sometimes worse than the men in those opinions! They are dogmatic about their wives not working, not using contraception, having many children, saying that children are a blessing of God and God will provide your needs. They usually homeschool their children, and completely shelter them from "the evil world". They don't seem to have any compassionant, loving or caring understanding, they just quote scripture. They are also anti-abortion extremists, and are often involved with meniceing behaviours around abortion clinics and justify killing of abortion doctors.

I was recently posting on one of their forums. I mentioned that I left my former husband because he mentally and emotionally abused me and remarried. They they practically laughed at me, saying I was being dramatic, had no right to leave him, really rebuked me, gave me no compassion, and told me I must divorce my husband. They seemed to resent the fact that i was a woman, and didn't bow down to them, and had my own opinions. I stopped posting, and told them what I thought of them.

Does anyone know anything about those people? Can you give me a link to websites that explain what they believe and why they are wrong? The scary thing about them is that they back up everything they say with scripture. That is very dangerous. They upset me alot.

Well, I agree with a lot of what you claim that they said. Not all of it though. Adultery, etc does go both ways. So if your husband remarried, he's in consistant adultery.

Women are not to be devalued. Scripture is clear that men and women are of equal value (Galatians 3:27-29). However, they need to take just as literally the passages directed at husbands and fathers as they do to those that command submission for women. Those are not easy to fulfill, and for that reason, I'm glad I'm not married, as I would make a lousy husband right now. I mean, Ephesians 5:25-32 says we need to love our wives as our own bodies and love them as Christ loved the Church. Colossians 3:19 says not to be harsh with them, and 1 Peter 3:7 says to be gentile with them and respect them, or else our prayers are hindered.

I do not see any Biblical ban on contraception, unless it starves or disposes of a fertilized egg.

We should not kill abortion doctors, that will make us look no better than them. I am for legislation that would prosecute and execute them, however. We are not to break the law or take punishment into our own hands. (Romans 13:1-4, Deuteronomy 32:35)

Homeschooling can be good or bad. If these kids are homeschooled, I hope they get socialized as well.

Children are a blessing from God! This is the only positive thing they told you. I wouldn't insist on many, I would simply want enough to take care of.

About women not working, there are benefits to that. I won't say that they shouldn't work, but considering all the stress working mothers go through, I do not think that it should be normal to work full time and have a couple small children. I will want to provide enough so that will not be needed.

Doesn't anyone else know anything about it??? I've been told that in the USA, evangelical Christianity is being hijacked by those people. A bit more I've learnt about them; they believe that home-schooling is the only way to go if you are a Christian, they believe in "betrothal", there is even a data-base in Virginia where fathers (not the children) can look through and choose a future marrige partner for their child; alot of the women are not allowed to wear jeans or pants, they must wear long skirts; they believe tha the father's authority overrides everything, even the church's authority; they seem to desire to make a new "Christian" nation, where the laws of the old testimate will reign.

Doesn't anyone know anything about them?

The "Patriarchy Movement" which you have just described does not appear to me as the True Godly Patriarchy Movement. Instead it appears to me as some soulish movement like the Mormonism. A true Patriarchy movement would have a strong and true relationship with the Holy Trinity and the men would love and cherish their women as mentioned in the scriptures. But, i am sure there are also false patriarchy movements that exist in different parts of the world. These could be the soulish imitators of the true patriarchy folks. I don't know their websites. The True Patriarchy folks are a minority.

If you are in search of True Patriarchy then pls visit http://www.nccg.org/fecpp/CPM-HP-Index.html

I have talked to the folks there and there women are a happy lot. I came across their site while researching on Patriarchy life. Hope that helps.
