The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.
If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.
If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

First of all, a pedophile has no remorse, no guilt feeling, no emotion towards harming a child sexually. You, on the other hand, are worried.
Second, the mere thoughts of being a pedophile are worrying and disturbing you. This is OCD.
Third, If you were to act upon a pedophile act, you wouldn't be even able to go through the first steps. You would quit right away and turn away from harming a child.
There is no other way around it. You are not secretly a pedophile, you will never be a pedophile, not even if you tried your hardess. You would fail.
In a month or a few weeks, you will obsess over something else, maybe violence, rape, or something. You will forget about this.
If you want to get over this "pedophile" theme, just look at pictures of little boys or girls (whichever brings more anxiety) on the internet. I'm not implying sexual pictures though, not at all! Just normal pictures of little boys or girls. Whatever thought comes, don't fight it, let it be there. Even the most disturbing, repulsive, sexual thoughts. Do this an hour a day for a week and it will destroy your OCD.
Trust me, PLEASE trust me on what I just said above. Ignore your OCD and heed on my advice.

Well here is my problem. I have never touched a child. I have however since around age 9 had an impulse to touch pretty little girls. I don't do it because I don't want to ruin a life. You get only one to live, I don't want to go to jail, and three I would think about nothing else but what an awful thing I did until I died. I don't get why the impulse is directed to pretty little girls though, that only seems pedophilic. So I wonder if there are sympathic pedophiles and I am one.
