The title says it all. A curious mind is wanting to know.

I myself sing. I often sing with my sister, and I play the piano/keyboard at my church. I love singing for God and just worshipping Him.

So, to repeat the question: does anyone here on this board sing? (or perhaps play an instrument or something.)

I sing along in Japanese to anime theme songs...does that count?

Lol, I really like singing (though I think I'm pretty awful at it). I was part of my school's choir when I was younger...I was one of the only boys there but everyone else sang so beautifully...I felt like I was in a trance ^_^

Hey, perhaps I should sing while praying the Rosary!

♪ Our Father, Who art in heaven
Hallowed be Thy Name;
Thy kingdom come,
Thy will be done.....

To sum up my skills, I'm John Cooper or Jason Wisdom.

I'd say I'm a male version of Rebecca Black...trouble is that she can actually sing...

(Oh wait...she can't :D)

Ahh, I see..

Church wise, to me, it really doesn't matter how good a singer or band is. If they are singing for God's glory, then that's all I need to know. They could be the worst singer in the world for all I care, but if they're singing for God's glory (and not for looking good, getting fame, or any of that selfish desires) I'd still praise God with them. Even if the person singing is off key or on key. Some churches only let the best singers sing, and sometimes, these 'best singers' aren't doing it for God.

I once tried singing a song in church because I thought it would go well and sound nice. And you know what? It sounded very.. plastic. I was singing to sound good, and wasn't singing for God.

Always, I remind myself that I'm singing for God's glory, not to sound good, but to praise/worship Him.

Well when I was attending choir, I think I was a tenor. This was because my voice was quite high compared to other boys.

However our voices change...though my voice didn't deepen so much. I'd say I'm a baritone now. I can still manage high pitches...but it starts to hurt after a while.

So true!

I've had experiences in attending Mass and non-denominational services. As we all know, Mass contains the most beautiful of chants and hymns...truly peaceful and loving.

Since Mass is banned in China, I sometimes go to a non-denominational service. Although I may disagree with their theologies, I have found their music to be so devoted to the Lord. The music is just so profound and deep...

I just can't help but to join in, with my arms waving in the air...I feel the the Lord is revealing Himself through music, I can feel the Holy Spirit so intensely...

I've never had that feeling in Mass...

Yeah, I go to a non-denominational church. But we're similar to Pentecostal..

I know what you mean though. I was at another church, and helping this guy play a song while he was singing (This church was Full Gospel, and we were invited to a tent meeting they were having.)

But while he was singing, I was trembling. I tried playing, barely getting the chords right. Then he sings the chorus in the song "Majesty" while singing, since the chords on the song he was singing were essentially the same, the switch was easy.

Then I break out singing with him, and I just felt the presence of God. I rejoiced and sang my heart out, singing as loud as I could. It was just awesome. At one point, I couldn't even play because my hands were trembling too much. I raised my hands and then started praising and worshipping God. "Majesty! Majesty! Your grace has found me just as I am, empty-handed but alive in Your hands! Majesty! Majesty! Forever I am changed by Your love, in the presence of Your majesty!"

We had a moment of silence, then I managed to play the chords again, but this time softly. The church sang together, arms high and worshipping God. It was so beautiful. I even heard someone crying..

Oh I love singing any songs, though not normally Christian music. I actually do covers on youtube for that matter. :) I play the piano, electric organ, guitar and drums too! The human voice and music are both beautiful creations, I can't imagine life without them!

I love singing but I get nervous about doing it in front of people, particularly doing it by myself in front of people. My piano teacher wants me to sing and play at her next concert but I keep thinking of excuses...

I sing a lot at home and with my mother and sister. (My father's tone-deaf so he doesn't like anyone singing). Mostly I sing hymns or folk songs - I know a lot of really long ballad-type songs like Clancy of the Overflow, the Man from Snowy River, And The Band Playing Waltzing Matilda, and Cànan nan Gàidheal. And I love hymns so I sing them a lot, too.

As for instruments... my chief instrument/s is/are piano and organ. I've been playing piano for 13-14 years now, and recently swapped over to organ. (It's so fun! I can play with my feet!) But since I currently have a broken foot, I've been back to piano again. I also play tenor recorder and fiddle. I do a lot of Celtic/Folk fiddling, which is so much funner than classical violin.

I used to play/sing at church but I find it really difficult to worship when standing on a stage in front of people, so I stopped doing that. When I'm more comfortable with the organ, I might start playing at churches again -- organists are comfortably seated somewhere the congregation can't see.
