• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

There is a doctor in my area (I went to high school with some of his children) who had pancreatic cancer pretty bad, and is thus far (about 10 years on) still living...part of his thing was coming up with a new pill called Neo-Vitin, he did also have surgery, but even still that is not a high survival cancer. I don't have much information about it, but as I said he is still alive, and seems to be doing rather well, so perhaps it is something to look up?

My prayers are with you.

Thank you Eternally Optimistic for both your thoughtfullness & prayers. My disease isn't a cancerous one but is ongoing chronic & flares up in bouts of acute which is severe pain & drastic weight loss, eg: only 6 months ago I dropped down to 47 kilos. When I get over the days/weeks of acute I manage to gain back my weight but I can only eat pureed foods etc. I will look into the Neo-Vitin pill as this disease has now become too debilitating to cope with & a health system that doesn't work. Whats new about broken health systems, as they are now worldwide. Last days & thank God we are in them.

Hey Sister,
I too have pancreatitis with pancreatic insufficiency. Like you I have found the health care and support totally lacking. I can cope with not being able to eat, the constant embarrassing stomach symptoms, the sickness, the total fatigue and starvation pain... but the pancreas pain... no words to describe. :(

To top all that do you find that you are treated roughly by doctors because it is also a disease that can be bought about by alcoholism and they assume that you have a drinking problem? I don't drink!! Cant stand the stuff!! Tea total!! Mine was caused by a combination of gall bladder disease, ulcers and bungled surgery but even so they treat me real rough. It leaves me feeling very depressed at times. :(

I have found that a very low fat plain diet helps a lot. I only eat small amounts at a time and enzymes really help a lot. I avoid potatoes, caffene, peppers, sweetcorn, dairy, fat, oil, brassica, fibre and strong spices which helps too.

Most of all... prayer...that helps immensely! Thank you Jesus!
Cant wait for my glorified body!!
