...when they read some of the posts on the 'recovery-sexuality struggles' forum?
All these people who feel so much self hatred for themselves.
What i really find difficult is the ones who write that they don't want to be gay, that they know this is not the way that God wants them to be - and then they go on to talk about how they are in a relationship and feel so much love for their partner, and want to show their partner that it's wrong to be gay.
???????
It just doesn't make any sense to me.
If you so badly want to not be gay, then why would you be in a relationship?
If you are gay, then you are gay. It's the way that God made you. Why not celebrate the love that he has led you to, instead of living a life of self-hatred and fear?
It makes me so sad that our society makes people feel this way about something they have no control of. My heart goes out to them.

Ha. I hear those "ex-gay" ministry programs are a great way to meet queer lovers.

But in all seriousness... Nothing bugs me like people loathing and denying a natural, beautiful part of themselves for no good reason. In some of these stories about sexual "conversions," you hear something like, "I was on my way to meet my fiancee, and this group of people stopped me and asked me to pray with them, and I felt the LORD'S touch and so I immediately broke up with my fiancee and started living a straight life." I suppose the Christians don't care how this must have confounded and devastated the fiancee (imagine that conversation -- "We've been together for five years, and you're leaving me because some yahoos on the street gave you a warm fuzzy and now you think you can hear God?") Talk about destroying families.

Funny how, though obvious Christians are not all in agreement about whether homosexuality is a sin, no one is allowed to post anything POSITIVE about homosexuality in the "recovery" forum. Wouldn't want to disrupt the conservative brainwashing process.

That is the most annoying thing!!!

But seriously... look at all the horrible things that happen in the world... wars, murder, abuse, drugs, rape, etc. So why do so many people focus on stamping out homosexuality instead of these things? Homosexuality DOESN'T HURT ANYONE. It is a form of LOVE. That's why i can't in good consience consider it to be a sin.
I'm also sick to death of the "Gay Agenda!" and "homosexuality=paedophilia" comments. To me, child abuse (of any form, but specifically sexual) is the worst possible thing imaginable. So for people to suggest that because i have a girlfriend, that must mean that i want to have sex with children.... it makes me so mad.

Amusing posts aside (you guys really made me laugh ) the OP is a serious issue, personally when I read that forum I feel anger more than anything not at those suffering but at the society/community that has made them think God despises them so much and they can't act on their urges and have a fulfilling relationships. It breaks my heart to know the happiness people can have in being themselves and to see people being pushed away from this. It's disgusting that people are made to feel that way due to things like their upbringing.

Agreed.
Especially since a lot of us have been there, (i know i have) and we know how it feels... but then we know how much better it is when you can move past that and accept and be proud of who you are. It's depressing to think that there are people who never get to that part - and people who never have the opportunity to see the other side of it, and live their whole lives hating themselves.

Lets ask another Question and compare the two. If a persons character or disposition makes them an alcoholic by drinking. Should they drink? A choice is still needed to be made on a so called disposition. Along with discipline and self control. Everything is spiritual. Every human being has to walk a difficult path of self indulgence of compulsive behaviors. The comparison of the two are still flawed for their is a sexual immortality and to look at design can you sit in a chair backwards, but was it designed for you to.

1. That's not true, at all. My father wished for a girl, not a boy.
2. So? Gender barriers should not exist.

1. Not necesarily. And besides, in a lot of adoption scenarios the adoptive parents do not choose the child; rather they are offerred the next child who needs a home, regardless of gender.

3. Being gay does not mean you are unable to bare children; it just means you need some assistance if you choose to. Much like heterosexual couples who are infertile.

4. In what way is family effected? I can show you the links to several peer-reviewed sources that state children of same-sex parents are not in any way disadvantaged when compared to those of heterosexual parents.

5. "Design", as you say, is used in a different way. For God is righteous and Holy. We need to be moral , have integrity, be righteous. Sexual feelings are acquired early, gradually,and sometimes without conscious thought. Homosexual have a much higher risk for sexually transmitted diseases and emotional problems. MENTAL HEALTH Evidence reported in the Archives of General Psychiatry suggests that gays and lesbians have higher rates of depression, suicidal thinking, and anxiety than other people. Other studies suggest that drug and alcohol use is also significantly higher for gays and lesbians. In a study of identical twins (one gay,one not) it has shown that on the average,male homosexuals were five times more likely to show suicide-related behavior or thoughts than their heterosexual twin.May God save us from our selves.
