Does anyone else have this problem?

Okay, so I guess for some reason, there isn't anybody that I talk to that likes Anime/Manga's. In fact, they kinda make fun of it. I mean I don't try to hide it or anything, I have posters in my room and everything. But I just can't watch it with them, or talk about it or even try to enjoy it while I'm with them. *Tried watching my FAVORITE episode of Full Metal Alchemist, and she just complained and changed the channel*

That's why I'm glad I can come here!

Does anyone else have this problem?

Most my friends see it as something immature or childish. So I just watch it at home, usually alone. I do have one friend that is beyond obsesed and another that enjoys it. So I do have someone to talk to

Heh, I find that I do get made fun of slightly for watching "cartoons" (aka anime/manga) But I sorta made peace with it.
Funny, True (relevant) Story:
I was at University, in the middle of my sociology lecture and I was finishing up a panal collection of "Inuyasha"s Shippo, I was just sketching when this big black man sits down beside me.
Him:"That's really good"
Me: "Thanks"
Him: "So, you like Inuyasha?"
Me: *is in shock* "You know and watch anime?!"

Apperently he loves anime and is in his 2nd year business degree, (He's 23!) his favorite anime is Gundam Seed.
See! All different people love anime!
(Btw, you /never/ woulda guessed him for an anime lover, he looked business through and through, including narrow business glasses)

So don't be ashamed. There are others out there!

haha YES we'll shout it loud and proud! IDC Anime's aren't really kids programs anyways if you really think about it.

Find a hobby shop that sells Warhammer minitures, Vampire the Masquerade stuff, and D&D manuals. There you'll find all varieties of geeks, some of which are bound to like anime and manga.

And comic book shops.

We don't have any of those. And I went to the one comic book shop and it kinda sucked. It was more comics then manga.

I used to do WarHammer, my brother as well. We did the Lord Of The Rings set. It was fun how you could show up at the store and they'd show you how to paint the figurines.
I never really thought to ask about anime/manga there.
Normall I go to "The Wizard's Tower" comic store if I want to "talk shop" at it were.

see you're lucky. And is that whole painting stuff fun? I don't think i would be very good at that.

You get taught how to paint them, and you learn a few good tricks. And if they don't turn out well...*shrug* No ones gonna look that closely at your little figures.
I actually found that the most fun was creating the lanscapes. We had most of middle earth made at one point. It took up all of my brother's room and for around a day and a half we battled.

I never was an anime freak until some of my former friends got me into it a few years ago. My one friend let me borrow a copy of the first Kare Kano manga she had and I loved it ever since.

However recently I stopped buying manga because I just couldn't afford the books anymore. I can read one manga book in an hour if that, and then I have to go buy another one. $10.00 a book really adds up for me after a while..

But now I'm really interested in certain things in anime characters and japanese names. For example, I like to write stories with japanese names for my characters. I also like to look for anime pictures on the web to help with my story, just so I can get a feel for what I want my character to look like. Of course, I do have a lot of problems looking for clean anime pictures if you know what I mean. People have really sick minds to post pretty nasty pictures than clean pictures. I have a hard time finding some good ones, although I've gotten lucky a few times.

Yeah there are a lot of bad pictures out there. But hey that's cool that you do that! I try but I just don't have the time! You'll have to show me some of your work one day! And yeah...umm....More power to the landscaping thing too haha...I think that requires a lot of. What's the word..oh yeah patience hahaaha

ooh, i have this same prob. I enjoy anime, but most of my friends can't get pass the whole "cartoon thing", and I live out here in the country and most groups just don't find it cool. I don't care though, i'll keep watchin it.

They wouldn't sell any, but you're more likely to find someone into anime and manga there.

I never really have gotten into miniatures. Not as much story telling with those as Role Playing Games.
