It was a multiplayer team deathmatch, deathmatch, capture the flag game on Xfire or Steam. I believe it was Xfire but then it was a long time ago around 2001 or 2002...
The game was in a sort of top-down view and players would level up? or get money? which could upgrade your character. It was also a shooter and you would have to log in from the game hosting program (steam or xfire). You could get better guns as well.
