Does Anybody Really Know What Time it Is?

My church group's leader had to cancel our trip to Turkey for this October.We were to visit the ancient towns of Ephesis, Thessalonica,and other places were Paul preached.Because of the violent threats against tourists,were have to cancel our trip.Yes,I remember what I read in the Book of Revelation about the end times.But,how close are we to the end times? Of course there is no right or wrong answer,since only The Father knows.
This situation also reminds me of part of a song by a band known as,"Styx".

Here are some of the lyrics of that song.


" The headlines read "These Are The Worst Of Times", I do believe it's true.

Around the year 1975,my father,a devout christian,and a deacon at the church that I grew up in,was totally convinced that Jesus was going to return in the year 2,000.I was planning to go to college.Now,what if I was as convinced as my father was?
What would have been the point of me going to college,in order to prepare for my future? The point I am making is we can surely hope for Jesus' return in our lifetimes.But, what if he does not return for another 300 years,or until the year 3000,since most biblical things come in threes?

If I had not gone to college,I would not have been living as well as I am living today.

Does anybody really care?

Yes,I have complied.But,the US Navy has no draft.I took a risk to volunteer in the U.S.Navy.Many successful people have taken risks.
I have honorably served my country for six years in the United States Navy. In 1972,while going to Hospital Corpsman School.there was a rumor,if you flunked out of Corps School,you got sent to Viet Nam. Well,rumor or no rumor,I was determined not to flunk out of Hospital Corps school.

Also,I have served Jury Duty about four times. In Bakersfield,because of my job as Clinical (Medical) Laboratory Scientist,I have been an expert witness for the prosecution in drunk driving cases. Since I grew up being a "Perry Mason" fan.I did not mind going to court.

If I did not go into the Medical Profession,I might have been an attorney.As some people,who read my posts,can attest, I just love to try to persuade people by proving my "cases",or points.

I went through several similar experiences as you have lived through... (for another day perhaps?)

WHen "duty" called, I went. Period. No time to go plant a garden, build a house, or do all the other things in life ....... (not when "duty called"... other times, there was time for other things)....

All along, I've known any moment, any day, might be my last.
I've told hundreds or thousands of people that too (it's no secret, I'm not quiet about my faith, nor about the temporariness of life on earth)...

I'm READY ! (ever since my sins were forgiven and my life was purchased by Jesus' Blood over 40 years ago) ....
In the meantime, while here on earth, I do whatever He says - all the time. Always, forever. Even my "call of duty" whenever it came up, was subject to Jesus - He was in charge. He is always in charge of my life. He is always FIRST , and no one is before Him.

College? Went. Did very good.

Finish? nope. God had other plans - much greater plans than I ever imagined.

This happened to many other people also.... they got within ONE CREDIT HOUR of graduating a four year or longer program,
and God told them to let it go, and they did. God is and was FIRST in their lives.
And they received the reward that God had prepared for them.

We follow Jesus no matter where He goes. Like the 144,000 well known in the Bible.

He is in charge, and we are His. And we are always ready. He directs our steps.

And IF we fall. IF we fail, IF we stumble, HE IS FAITHFUL AND TRUE and instead of casting us down, HE UPHOLDS US with THE STRENGTH of HIS RIGHT HAND. HALLELUYAH TO HIS NAME !
(because we can stumble. .... we are still in frail tents.... but in Him, we can say - HE is our Strength! IN HIM we are strong. Joy, Peace and Righteousness are His Gift to us in Jesus)

Yes,when I was 18,I also knew that any day on Earth could be my last. I was assured of my salvation,through Jesus.I realized that the only thing, that would keep me from reaching my goals in life.was death. In the 1970's, we had Viet Nam,the Cold War,and the threat of a thermo-nuclear war. I was so desperate to find a partner. My biggest fear was that I was going to leave this earth without hearing anyone say,"I love you." In my 62 years,I have not have many people tell me that. This is why,sometimes,I feel that I am not wanted. As I have said before,"sometimes,the only place that I really
feel appreciated,is when I am on stage performing."

Now as far as temporary things here on earth goes. I love to go on cruises. In the Book of Revelation,it says that there will be no more seas on the earth. Since there will be no more seas,there will be no need for any ships.Therefore,there will be no cruises. Therefore,logic dictates,that I should do as many cruises as I can. Because there will be no more seas on the new Earth. Or as another analogy,say,for instance,we find out that there will be no ice cream in Heaven. If ice cream is your favorite desert,would you not want to eat, and enjoy as much ice cream as you can, now?

Probably we can travel to another planet that has some great seas with great islands for us to visit. What a great trip that will be!

"would you not want?" .... I used to love eating ice cream.
Most of the time now, that is not even feasible. (one small step for a man, one giant leap for a multitude of people)

"The Best of Times" by Styx. This song could be heard throughout many a college dormitory in the early 80s. I know this because I was there and I played it on stereo INCESSANTLY!
