Hello,
I'm brand new here but I was searching for a place to vent and found this. I am a bivocational minister so I'm not sure if this belongs here or in the youth ministry forum but I was hoping for pastoral advice. I've been a music minister/ worship leader for 4 years. About a year and a half ago I accepted the call to the youth ministry and I feel that I'm called to eventually pastor. My wife and I had a talk before I accepted the youth pastor position and she said that she felt she was called to be a ministers wife......I accepted the position.
As I stated, I'm bivocational so 40-50 hours a week I build scaffolds in a refinery. I have been seeking a better scaffolding job and my father-in-law works for a better company and he's been waiting on a spot to open. Well the spot finally opened...with one catch. I wouldn't be able to take off a week in July to take my youth to camp if I accept. I politely declined because my ministry is my life and I feel that God will bless me in keeping faith that he will provide.
My wife is upset now because we could use the money ($6 per hour raise) and her family thinks I'm a moron. They are all "Christian" but they all put the almighty dollar first. I guess I'm more upset that my wife doesn't get it.
Any advice?
On a side note, I'm filling in for the pastor this week as he is on vacation and I feel I hav my sermon topic. "Are you 'all in' for Christ?"
