What stunts the church is ignoring truth that actually matters. Carrying the cross, dying to self, living as a new creation in Christ, overcoming sin, being led by the Spirit, unity in the Spirit, loving the brethren, living in unity, humility, obedience, Jesus as The Life, the salvation of the soul just to name a few. Get those right and the church will live right. We need to quit majoring on minor issues. As Paul said,
2 Corinthians 11:2-4
"…I am jealous for you with a godly jealousy. For I promised you to one husband, to present you as a pure virgin to Christ. I am afraid, however, that just as Eve was deceived by the serpent’s cunning, your minds may be led astray from your simple and pure devotion to Christ. For if someone comes and proclaims a Jesus other than the One we proclaimed, or if you receive a different spirit than the One you received, or a different gospel than the one you accepted, you put up with it way too easily.…"

The reality is that no one knows for sure. All will be clear when Jesus returns. Some will be justified, others will be shown to be wrong. I don't know anyone who has been saved by arguing about such doctrines. "Knowledge puffs up. Love builds up".

I don't even know what Pietism means in reality. I don't subscribe to any "ism". Way too many Christians try to please God by their own efforts. Christians need to be turned right way up. They need to know who they are in Christ and who Christ is in them. They need to know the power of the resurrection and to know that Jesus really is the Life. When Jesus is doing the living, the pressure comes off us and we just need to learn to cooperate with Him. I know the difference. When I'm trying, I'm failing. Jesus never fails! I've learned this lesson by hard experiences over too many years. If I can help someone come to the same understanding, I'll be delighted. The wise person learns from his mistakes. If he is really smart, he learns from others mistakes.

If Christians really knew Jesus, and knew who they are in Him, the "living" bit becomes easy. Lord Jesus said that if we love Him, we will obey Him. He did not say, if you obey me, you will love me. Christianity is new life, not striving to be something that we cannot be in ourselves.

Christians need to know that Lord Jesus came to give us life. Why? Because without Him, we are dead. The best intentions, the fiercest struggle, the most diligent study of God's word are not enough to overcome sin and the self of the soul. God's remedy is simple. Kill us and raise us up to new life.

If Christians do not know who they are in Christ, they will always struggle. Life becomes a chore and some will give up. Christians know how to live. It's in black and white in the Bible. What is lacking is the knowledge of how to live in experience, not just in doctrine. Many stay on the "Romans 7" treadmill. Satan seeks to blind Christians to the truth that is found in Romans 8. He's done a good job of that, unfortunately.

During the Korean war, North Koreans engaged in psychological warfare. They put prisoners in huts in areas so remote that fences were not required. They allowed mail to come to prisoners but they read it first. Only letters with bad news were allowed through. Some prisoners were so depressed that they lost the will to live. Satan is happy for Christians to stay in the negatives, be immersed in their introspection and bound by self. He's not so pleased when people realise just how great is God salvation through Christ.

I have a daily routine that includes binding Satan, choosing against his will and asking for God's will to be done instead. I curse Satan's activities as the god of this world who causes the perishing to be blind to Jesus and his salvation. I also curse and bind occult spirits, religious demons of Islam, Buddhism, Hinduism and every other religious spirit. I curse and bind the spirits that counterfeit the Holy Spirit and produce lying signs and wonders. I curse the demons that attack the church and impart false teachings. I ask God to rise up and scatter His enemies and cause those who hate Him to flee from Him. I pray regularly for the government of Australia.
