What stunts the church is ignoring truth that actually matters. Carrying the cross, dying to self, living as a new creation in Christ, overcoming sin, being led by the Spirit, unity in the Spirit, loving the brethren, living in unity, humility, obedience, Jesus as The Life, the salvation of the soul just to name a few. Get those right and the church will live right. We need to quit majoring on minor issues. As Paul said,
2 Corinthians 11:2-4
"…I am jealous for you with a godly jealousy. For I promised you to one husband, to present you as a pure virgin to Christ.
I am afraid, however, that just as Eve was deceived by the serpent’s cunning, your minds may be led astray from your simple and pure devotion to Christ. For if someone comes and proclaims a Jesus other than the One we proclaimed, or if you receive a different spirit than the One you received, or a different gospel than the one you accepted, you put up with it way too easily.…"
The reality is that no one knows for sure. All will be clear when Jesus returns. Some will be justified, others will be shown to be wrong. I don't know anyone who has been saved by arguing about such doctrines. "Knowledge puffs up. Love builds up".
