  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Well I recently read in a magazine that a great way to get coupons and such from companies was to email them and tell them how much their products have really helped you and request a coupon...or usually they will just send you one anyway.
Well heres new info I found:

Well Lilly goes through gas drops...she is a very gassy baby...we started out with mylicon...then I switched to little tummys at toy r us cause you get twice as much for the same price..but, I still prefer the mylicon...well I wrote them..this week and explained how much I enjoyed their product and wondered if they offered coupons..their quick and nice reply was this:

Thanks for visiting our website.

We received your recent e-mail, and we were so happy to hear how much
our Infants' MYLICON® (simethicone/antigas) Drops has helped you.

Our Consumer Relationship Center is pulling together a "Family Album"
which would include some of our loyal consumers. We would love to
include you as part of our album to be shared within our company. We want
to introduce our employees to our loyal consumers and let them know what
great work they are doing helping people.

we will be happy to send a profile to you via regular mail. Please
return the profile with a picture of yourself in the postage paid
envelope. We will also enclose a coupon and information on some of our other
products as a token of our appreciation.

WOW! how cool is that...I got a coupon for a really great product we love...and we get to be part of their family album..now that is great customer service....as you all may can tell from prev. posts in the WD forum I am frugal..yes cheap..so I love coupons, deals, and anything free...so I thought I would share...maybe there is a company out there whose products you enjoy using...may not be a bad idea to email them and tell them.

we used them, too....a lifesaver!

It really is a good idea to contact companies if you like the products or have a problem...I had a problem with a box of trash bags I bought recently (the drawstring was only on ONE SIDE!!), so I emailed the company & they're sending me coupons in the mail to make up for it...

I know...when I read this in a magazine...I was just like..DUH! Why didn't I think of that...it had never occured to me to actually contact a company and give them compliments on their product..I have since contacted balmex and huggies..which I did join the huggies mailing list..for sending them an email they are sending me some coupons on some wipes as well..got the email today...that will help us a bunch since everything else seems to break her out....haven't heard from balmex yet...I usually put that on if she is just a little red..I am paranoid of diaper rashes..don't know why.

I was like that, too....even if Andie looked SLIGHTLY red, I'd pile on the ointment! lol I used Desitin creamy, that worked really good plus it was easy to wipe off...I guess it worked because she hardly ever got a diaper rash!! lol

I use Desitin regular. When he was a young thing but was already sleeping through the night we would put Desitin on every night before bed (for prevention since he slept 10 hours straight in one diaper). We finally stopped that when he got to looking TOO pleased about this ritual and we got embarrassed.

My family doctor and my midwives and even my nutritionist said that mylicon drops, oval drops, what have you, are a complete waste of money. They do nothing and if they do something its most likely coincidence.

LOL, it's a pretty wide spread coincidence then. ;) We used them and definitely saw results. And the vast majority of mommies that I know can also give you first hand accounts of good experiences with the gas drops. But, like anything, every parent has to decide what's best for their child.

Sammipher, I've also heard of people writing letters to companies that they are displeased with. In many cases, they're willing to compensate with coupons or freebies just in an attempt to hold on to business. I'm sure that corporations pay some people a lot of money to handle their customer relations...might as well take full advantage of it. LOL, I myself am far too lazy.

I'm not arguing with you guys, I just made a statement as comes from a few medical professionals ;) And I completely agree with them, I've looked into the research and figured I'd try it anyway, I tried every "drop" on the market (Abby = super gas) and sure enough, complete waste of money :D Just saying, thats what I get for not listening to the doctor, heh. A cabinet full of useless "gas drops" .. we have like 10 bottles of different stuff :D

LOL, I'm not arguing either. :) Every baby is so different...you never know what will work for yours and what won't. My nanny (when my brother and I were babies) used to put an onion in a sock and put it under our crib to cure gas/colic. Hehe...she swore by it. :D

I completely agree :) We saw a huge difference when we started using the gas drops as had the mothers who recommended them to us.

My sister used gas drops on a daily basis with my youngest nephew. He was so colicy that she would be in tears. Once she started using mylicon she noticed a big diffrence. He was still gasy and fussy but the mylicon worked wonders.

I couldn't use Desitin on my kids. Apparently they are allergic. They broke out extremely bad. I started using Vitamin A&D ointment or vaseline. I found they worked the best.
