• Starting today August 7th, 2024, in order to post in the Married Couples, Courting Couples, or Singles forums, you will not be allowed to post if you have your Marital status designated as private. Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Well I don't believe in the concept of "good" as the Abramic religions define it. In fact I don't believe in the whole concept of ultimate good and ultimate evil in a constant battle for control of the Universe.

WEll at least you admit your Bigotry, that's a first step.

A couple of points.

We don't think that you don't understand God's word. We have no reason to believe that your Bible is the word of the Divine.

I have a fundamentally close and personal relationship with the Divine, and I don't have to be bigotted, or use hateful speech to do it.

You may call it "the Great Falling Away" but the rest of us don't see a move away from violent and murderous fundamentalism, fueled by just the type of hateful speech and thinking that typifies Fundie attitudes, as being a bad thing. You may believe you are your God's calling from his word, but until you can prove it you really don't have a basis for your bigotry and prideful attitude.

I would much rather be a person who claims to love others and actually displays that love than a fundie who claims love but shows none. If your God would prefer the latter then I'm, once again, glad I'm not a Christian.

Oh, and BTW, the whole "some day you'll be sorry" routine is really quite lame.

You see, tolerance is a good thing. Intolerance is rooted in hatred, prejudice, and bigotry.

The fact that you view intolerance as being the preferred position speaks volumes about what is really in your heart.

Once again I am reminded of why I didn't want to be a Christian any more. No doubt others here are reminded once again as well. Thanx for your help RTH.

Tolerance can be misused just like anything else.

If you stand with someone who stands right, but only because it serves his selfish pupose, you should have parted with him.

If you stand with someone who believes he stands right, but cannot show that he stands right, and hurts other people while doing so, you should have parted with him.

If you stand with someone who says he stands right, and everyone who believes differently than him stands wrong, but cannot offer so much as a shred of substantive evidence that he is right and everyone else is wrong, you should have parted with him.

Thank you but I'll stick with the originial quote.
Here is another.

Edmund Burke:
All that is necessary for evil to succeed is that good men do nothing.

Yes the old "You're not tolerating my intolerance" excuse.

Resisting murder does not make you a murderer.

Resisting tyranny does not make you a tyrant.

Resisting Bigotry does not make you a bigot.

However, using quotes from other bigots to support your bigotry does say something.

I have two points to make:

Firstly, sweetkitty and any member here who finds her OP acceptable are more than welcome to cast stones at me. Here I am, I call myself a Christian, and I sin. Yes, every day. My salvation is a journey, and every day I strive to become more Christ-like. Every day I fail to achieve sanctification. Perhaps you are perfect... cast away with those stones...

Secondly, I agree with the Martin Luther King Jr quote above. A sin is a weakness, and may be made better through love, not through hatred. If you want some scripture, try the old 'lust is adultery / hatred is murder' verse.

God is love.

Christians:

You need to give thought to the process of casting stones, removing eye planks, and assisting your Christian neighbor.

Remember, these guidlines found on Judgement is ment for brethern. Indeed the Lord will take care of the rest; of which showing love of them is expected but not to tolerate them in action.

We know what must be taken care of by the fruit that these things shows.

Do you really think the Lord will let you slip on by in saying - BUT I LOVED THEM? You are called on not only to love, but to assist your fellow Christian. Stop falling short of the task. By all means take care of yourself first, but make sure you then follow through on your duties to those fellow Christians.

Why would you have your fellow Christian continue on with stumbling blocks?

Namaste all,

well... i suppose that i'll have to leave the hate to the ones that seem to revel in it... i don't have any intention of going down that paved road.

by the by.. i think that it's a logical impossibility to "hate the sin and not the sinner." but that's simply based on my own observations... and i've only observed a very small sampling.
