  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Do you think we are trending?

3 Important Church Trends in the Next 10 Years via @CTMagazine
3 Important Church Trends in the Next 10 Years | The Exchange | A Blog by Ed Stetzer

This article caught my eye and I was very curious to see how over the last 35 years since I was first a believer, the ND church has blossomed and grown.

When I first gave my heart to the Lord, the ND churches I knew of were very tiny fellowships, and yes the ND church I attend now is a mega Church. I never put it together and thought of us as trending though?

It sounds like a harvest to me?:groupray:

How has your ND church been trending?:)

Currently I attend a small denominational church where we live. It is hard to stay rooted to one parish when one moves like we have in the last 20 years. I hope that non-denominationalism is trending because it is telling the TRUTH, NOT just out of popularity. People these days, in my opinion, are tired of the major denominations that add church dogma and tradition to God's word. Some, like myself, want it straight up and unmixed. I hope that the influx is a POSITIVE thing and means we are doing something right. I don't want to be popular because I am compromising with the world.

Yes and that makes me think as well if part of the ND popularity is the fact they are open arms to other Denominations and not moved by distinctive family and group tradtions. I know some of these ND mega Churches have folks attending from a variety of Denominations.

When I became a believer I was shocked to discover so many denominations, I always assumed that people would have studied the Bible, asked God for understanding and discerned the truth. I have never even considered studying denominations, surely any kind of divide is a choice contrary to the unity preached in the Bible and by Christ.

I was the same way. I think in my case I grew where I was planted which was in a church called the Eagles Nest. I did feel "nested" in too:thumbsup:

And few years later my hubby and I flew to a new job and new ND church hours away and noticed little difference in these two ND Churches. Nothing conflicting in their beliefs that is.

Oh wow. That is creepy! Did they know that the Eagle's Nest was the name of Adolf Hitler's mountain retreat?

How has your ND church been trending?
If a church is being true to Christ and to the Bible it will ignore all talk about "trending" as well as all the other fads and fallacies which have permeated Christendom. The mega churches and denominations are "trending" towards apostasy, so they cannot possibly be a model for any church.

The real "trending" which is badly needed in Christianity is repentance within the churches. Note what the Lord says (Rev 3:19): As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten: be zealous therefore, and repent.

In earlier days it was known as unity when the church was attended by people of diffrent levels of faith. Now days they are called ND. In scripture the town name was how it was identified. I wish it was that way today.
The trend seems to be to find a place to worship or learn of our living Lord Jesus.
Church without walls (of denomination). Walls divide, and the body of Christ is not divided. Imho.

yes, good post. I've gone to ND since I was saved 38 yrs ago. And yes, I do think people want away from denom specific rules. They want to know what the BIBLE says, not what some man (or panel of people) have decided.

I specifically seek out those who say to read what the Bible says, not to take their word for it.
