  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

So.... I'm still young. I turn 25 in March. But unfortunately :sigh:, my hairline is receding. This is something I simply can NOT tolerate. I love my hair so much and I can't stand the though of losing it

Most people think it looks fine. And BELIEVE ME, I ASK hehe. But still, it bothers me to think that someday I will be bald. Sooooo... I'm saving $5000 for Microscopic Hair Transplantation. And the thing is... people think that's a lot of money.. but I would sell every last possession to save my hair. I would drain my retirement savings just to save my hair. I refuse to die without a full head of hair!

So, do you think I'm vain?

Answer truthfully, but be gentle (and funny if you can swing it :p )

Hmmm...well, I was thinking no you're not vain until you got to the part about selling every last possession and draining your retirement income  It is just hair after all.

If you have the money and can save up for it then I don't see a problem with it but if you are obsessed with it to the point that you'd do absolutely anything for it then uhhh - you've got a problem. You need to accept yourself just the way you are (I know of what I speak cause I'm working on accepting myself so I don't say that lightly) and then after you've done that if you still have things you want to change and can do it reasonably then go for it.

he's 25 though, thats to young. I would say it was vain if he was in his 40s. But losing your hair at 25 has to really suck.

Have you tried other methods like Rogain or anything like that.

Unfortunately, Rogaine will not work for receding hairlines. It only works for baldness on the crown of the head (back).

To the original poster, it's been noted that baldness is a direct result of increased testosterone levels. So if you go completely bald, just tell the girls it's the price for increased manliness. Then do a pose like Arnold Schwarzenegger.

Well, at least it made you smile. :)

Doesn't really matter what age he is - if it's happening then it's happening and he needs to learn to deal with it in a healthy way. It is part of who he is and accepting it and accepting himself is a step in the right direction and then if it still bothers him and he has the means to do something about it (within reason) then he absolutely should - I don't see anything wrong with it.

I just think it bothering him to the point of selling everything and draining his retirement account is a little out of balance.

I'd probably react similarly if given the same situation. So if your vain, than I'm vain to.

Haha, thanks, nice to know that I'm not the only one who would feel this way.

Hey, bald is beautiful, too, amirite?

I think bald looks good on certain peeps. However, I don't think I'm one of those :(

If nothing else works then I don't think that is totally vain no. I would hate to have a receeding hairline at this age.

I use a shampoo for thinning hair and it's helped a little. But yeah, you can't use rogaine for a receding hairline. I don't think I will suffer from baldness at the crown of my head though.

Well... I wouldn't sell every possession. I would save my Wii and Guitar Hero and my laptop and probably this one pair of jeans I like. And my GPS. It's pretty sweet.

To the original poster, it's been noted that baldness is a direct result of increased testosterone levels.

Yeah, I've heard it's a sign of increased testoterone. I've always thought I had high testosterone levels compared to some other guys I know. I mean, I'm probably pretty virile. I got my ex pregnant the one time we didn't use a condom. One shot, one kill baby. My boys can swim. They probably have like Navy SEAL gear.

You need Nioxin natural hair regrowth formula. I used it five years ago for a few months to help my hair which was thinning when I cut it from long to short. Expensive but worth it. Its the same stuff they use with cancer patients who have lost their hair. http://www.nioxin.com/index.cfm?objectid=FDFD8062-C291-0196-BA395476E6676097

:sigh: that's the stuff I use. It's helped a bit.. and yeah it's expensive but I'm thinking in a few years I'm going to have to pursue something a bit more aggressive.

I think it's a little vain, but it's just hair! What if you meet the girl of your dreams and she wants you to shave your head? Your hair doesn't or shouldn't define you. You need to figure out why you're so hung up on having hair to the point of spending your retirement on it. And if you do decide to do that anyway, make sure the payoff is worth it. I mean if you do all that, and then say....get cancer or something and have to have chemo you would lose your investment, your hair and your self esteem just like that. I think it's perfectly OK to like yourself better with hair and to desire that, but....also consider does God think it's all that important?

Well. yes, sorry I do think your vain but that's not the worst thing in the world. I'd worry more about personality then the way you look, because if you're so worried about your hair, you may miss out on a non vain girl. :p
