Do you still watch MTV?

Does anyone still watch MTV? I mean, judging by some of the responses, I’m fairly sure that a lot of people do. But, I also hope that many people have simply given it up—I know I have. I can’t recall the last time I sat through Total Request Live, though I know it must have been sometime in high school. Is there any good programming left on MTV? I know my friends were watching the Video Music Awards a few days ago. I watched a little and enjoyed Coldplay. But I wasn't impressed by anything else. I’ve also included a poll to get an idea of who is actually watching this MTV.

I still watch it!!! I like TRL and stuff but I don't watch everything on it. LIke Date My Mom and Roomraiders that stuff is just so stupid and doesn't need to be on the channel. But I personally seeing nothing wrong by watching MTV if you are being careful of what you watch.

No, I hardly watch MTV2 either. MTV2 used to be actually be about alternative music, stuff which was completely left of mainstream. Last time I watched it it was all just nu-metal and sanitised pop-punk.

The last time I watched MTV was for the Coldplay special they had on. Other than that, no.

I do watch some of the shows on VH1, however (Hogan knows best, Celeb Fit Club (occasionally), Breaking Bonaduce).

No. I quit watching it when they stopped playing music and started playing all of these shows with whiney, teenagers who couldn't keep it in their pants if you held a gun to their head.

My friend Carl was the first kid in our neighborhood to get MTV and I remeber that we would go to his house and just stare at the screen. David Bowie's "Blue Jean" was my favorite video.

They would also have wrestling every Friday night, back before wrestling was just so stupid as it is today.

Roddy Piper, Big John Stud, Wendy Richter, Cyndi Lauper and all of those guys.

And then there was Friday Night Videos...

...and back in my day, we had to walk fifteen miles in the snow to go to school...

I enjoy the Real World and the Real World/Road Rules challenges shows (the Inferno, etc.)

There's very little "mainstream" music that I like, so for videos I turn to VH1 Classic.

MTV has sucked hard for years now, and I don't think I've watched since the late '80's, which is when it started it's downward slide.

For that matter, MTV2 sucks hard, too. Every time I turn to MTV2, there's a rap video on. I'm not exaggerating. Every single time! What the hell is the deal?

If it makes you feel any better, there are a total of seven or eight MTVs. I have all of them. Each of them sucks.

Let's remember that ESPN is the network that shows spelling bees in primetime and then decided it was a good idea to drop the NHL.

it's a disgusting channel. all the music video ones are. once i watched fuse for "fresh:oven baked" because switchfoot had their new video out. they came in 3rd so at least i didn't have to watch half those vids for nothing.

I only watch it when I'm bored and flipping through the channels. There's very little music I actually find through them anymore (I think the last one was Nine Inch Nails' "Only", and that was at 3 in the morning). I will watch VH1 Classic and the Digital Music Stations from time to time though (well, technically you can't 'watch' the Digital Music Stations, but you get the drift).

Qan Tro, speller from Vietnam, has tested positive for steroids and Sal Palantonio is reporting that Jeffrey Smith, speller from Kingman, Az, got into a fight with Jeremiah Trotter during the warmups for last night's bee.

It's all so commercial now. I remember when it just used to be about the spelling.
