Do you own a home yet? Or are you satisfied renting?

Me? No, not yet. I want to own a home someday. I currently rent, but I dream of owning a house one day.

Yes, we own our home outright. We were fortunate to buy when the market was much lower than it is now. I would not buy a new home at this time, especially where I live. The market is over heated here, if I were in the position I would rent right now and wait for the market to turn.

Not yet, no.

May end up moving out of Florida back to the Northeast as they are more chances for housing in places like Upstate, NY or Central and Northern PA. A house that is four bedrooms and two baths with a couple acres in Upstate, NY priced at 159k, bit in Florida is around 220 to 230k.

Yes and I wish we would have done it sooner. It is an investment....but also a bit of work and worry.

I'm in the process of moving to another state. I own the house I've lived in for the last 4 years. I'm going to have it listed soon and hope to make a few dollars on the sale.

I'll be closing on my new house at the end of the month. I found a place that had been on the market for several months and got a discount price to buy it. However, the general home buying experience was frustrating. Many times my realtor and I pulled up to tour a house only to find it had gone under contract hours before.

Something always requires attention and the older the house the more attention. Plumbing, roof, foundation, critters in the attic, etc.

Its always a trade off, when prices are high interest rates are low and when rates are high prices a low. If you could divine the future you'd do an ARM when rates are high so you could buy rates and home prices at lows. I can't divine the future like that though.

Yeah, I agree. Out issue was we had savings that were not making any interest to speak of, and we are not comfortable with investing in the markets to do that, so, out best return was to pay off the mortgage. While it was under 5%, that is a better return than we would get in most investments that are conservative.

I sort-of own a home. The home is in my family's name, but I've paid a lot into it so I probably qualify as a co-owner. It's a mobile home but a good one that should be in good condition for 30 more years at least. Our last mobile home lasted a bit over 30 years until hurricane Katrina damaged it.

I really wish I had put more money into my current home when I could have; that would have saved a lot in paying interest and we would be in a much better position financially. Instead, I wasted lots of money on college which I was unable to get a diploma with because of being hit with mental illness in my senior year. Too bad college wasn't set up to where you only pay for it if it was actually useful to you and gets you a job.

I know that people from the Northeast and Florida instinctively pretend that flyover country doesn't exist (I was one of them), but you should check it out. Far cheaper houses and better weather than PA/NY state.

I live with my mom, she owns the home outright. Me however, I probably won't own a home until she passes away. I have amazingly bad credit and have never bothered to try and buy a home because I knew that on the type of jobs that I tend to get, that I can't afford to rent, so I wouldn't try to buy either.

Besides, my mom is getting older and my sister isn't around to help take care of her, so it's more expedient for us to live together. She fell down last year when I was renting a different place and managed to get to her phone to call me and tell me to come bring her to the hospital, I had to carry her to the car and into the ER. She was fine, just really bruised but it gave me a scare at the time, so when my lease was up, I moved back in to keep an eye on her.

People give me guff for it, but it's actually normal for parents and kids to live together in like everywhere aside from the US. I knew a Muslim guy once who flew into a conniption when I told him I had moved out of my mother's house. He was all like "YOU MOVED OUT AND LEFT YOUR MOM ALONE?" Because he was in his thirties and lived with his parents and grandparents, as was normal in his culture. That got me thinking: we are commanded to "honor our parents" but too often, we are taught by society to treat our parents as a burden and then are told that we should just box them up in an ALF somewhere and only come by to visit once in a while, as we go about with our seemingly important lives. That doesn't sound much like "honoring your parents" to me.

Im just renting, not satisfied.. I used to think that I never want to own a house but now I really do want own a house. I don’t want big house but I would like house near water. Expensive: yes, but it’s good to have dreams.
But, if I can’t have house other option is some sort of car where I could live.
