Do you? or How do you?

Do you memorize Scripture? If so, would you be willing to share your methods, perhaps to motivate others to do likewise?

I try to, but it's not as regular as it should be in my life. When I do, I read the passage over many times, then I try to write it out as much as I can without cheating. After just a short time, I usually can get it all, even short chapters. Then it is just a matter of reviewing it occasionally to keep it in there.

Recently, a few months ago, is that recent, I stumbled across a free program that is meant as an aid in memorizing. I've tried it only a few times, but it does help, with one or two verses. It really isn't set up for long passages. If you want to try it it's on my CF homepage.

With Psalms I do it in rap. Anything that will help you put verse with a rhythm. works for me...

I typically make a little "cheat sheet" of verses that I keep with me to read (especially if they apply to something that is going on in my life). Usually after reading them a few time, they are committed to memory.

That's the only way that's worked for me.

I am no good at memorizing scripture with the exception of John 3:16 but need to make and take notes of it.

Amen! Maybe not in Rap, but definitely in song. Its so much easier for me when I've created a song and tune from a verse or even a chapter - whether Psalms or otherwise. Most times, I can just put a tune directly to the scripture, so I'm really just quoting basically, and other times I may need to build a theme from a verse that sticks in my head.

I also find that writing out my interpretation of a verse, and confirming that its correct, helps me to remember it as well.

I think that I will try that writing it out in like paper would help and to help people memorize it.
