  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

If we're talking hypothetical here. Generally when I play an rpg or whatnot. I prefer playing a villain.
See, I can't stand being mean. In Black&White 2 I always end up being "good", because I just can't stand to let my little fake people suffer.

Washington, could ya break that down for me?
Sure 'nuff. I very seldom argue theology with the expectation of changing anyone's mind, but it has happened a few times with friends who foolishly believed what their religion was saying, and was later thanked for setting them straight. On the other hand, some of my theological opponents, particularly those who knowingly use bogus information to support their cases, don't care for what I have to say, and see me as their enemy.

I have played several RPG games that give you the choice. I find it hard to play a villain (though I try)

But then again in games the choices are not real. The implications do not translate to real-life... After all it's only a game

That's part of why I like playing a bad guy in those, you have a little more freedom to go against type. But the game has the have compelling enough villains for me to want to play em. I'll be the shining hero if I find them more interesting.

When you think of yourself as a superhero in games or real life do you fancy yourself a hero or a villain?

In games for the most part I play the good guy. I have actively tried to play the bad guy, but in many games I can't do it to much of an extent and enjoy it, but one thing I do notice I can do which many others can't is play the purely evil side as well. To use a pop. culture reference, when I was watching the Dark Knight, I was up to the end constantly pointing out things that the Joker should have done to paint himself crazier and more evil. Basically, it was second nature to me to see the choices that would make the Joker become so bad that his current self would be considered at least decent if not good. But, I always tend towards good. I cannot stand to see suffering, so I will always remove it where I can find it.

Yet there is a bit of a problem, in that I know locked inside of my current self is another who can enjoy suffering. It is one of the reasons I consider myself a crazy, even if not in the standard sense of the word. Luckily, that me never comes out. Then again, I think that such a darker self resides in all others as well, just many are unable to see it, because it would hurt their self image beyond repair, to know that someone far worse than most if not all the evil people you think of is a possible side of yourself. But I digress.

So, long story short, I always tend towards good, but I realize that I have the ability to do the opposite.

Neither, or both, depending upon how you look at it. Even superheroes are complicated. ;)

Most games that offer a choice really intend for the good choice to be made, with the evil choice being ill thought out.

In honesty, I'm generally a good person, but I'd prefer to be in the middle - have the ability to do what I thought was for the best whether it seemed evil or not.

Ditto!

I know it'd be a lot easier if I just threw a few fireballs at the little fellas, but I can't bring myself to do it.

I tend to run around chaotic neutral in day to day life, and am unabashedly evil in games.

My reputation was so low in one D&D campaign that guards were dispatched if I entered a town. Might have had something to do with the wholesale slaughter in one town after a shopkeeper refused to lower their prices. ;)
