God told Joseph in a dream that he would rule over his brother, at the age of 17. Before he was placed into a pit. Before he was sold into slavery. Even before he was slander and wrongfully imprisoned. However, God was faithful, and Joseph became prime minister of Egypt. He became ruler of a country that once had him as a slave. All of the trials worked together to bring Joseph into Pharaoh's favor, God continuously blessed Joseph more and more (name means God shall increase). Even in the bleakest of moments, he remained in he will of God. Joseph remained faithful to God, never lost hope, and he saw his dreams come true at the age of 37 (Genesis 37, 39-42).
Has God given you a dream--a desire in your heart for a particular vocation. Perhaps it is your deepest desire to be a lawyer, politician, teacher, doctor, writer, missionary or someone no one could guess or has ever heard of. Perhaps you have it all planned out too. Joseph probably never thought he would spend much of his life in a prison or as a slave, separated from his family. Let us not become discouraged, dejected, or despaired, when your life seams dark and your dreams seem dead. When we are faithful, God too shall be faithful, and when we are faithless, He shall still be faithful, (for He can not deny himself). Nevertheless, let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering, remembering in our hearts that all things work for the best for those that love Him, the same ones he calls according to His purpose ( 2 Timothy 2.13, Hebrews 10.23, Romans 8.28).
