Im often praying but never seem to get an answer. Is their anyone else who feels like this that God just never seems to answer their prayers? Is their anyone here who gets answers to the prayers? Pleas let me know. Thanks

Personally I think that God is always listening as He is omnipresent, omniscient, and omnipotent. As to whether our prayers are answered I believe they all are because everything that happens to us is according to His Great Will, and Mercy.

In everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you. (1Th 5:18)

If you want to know God answering your prayers then pray according to His will. Start by meditating on scripture and praying according to what's in there. I remember shortly after I got saved that He answered 3 of my requests right off the bat.

1. Direct me to a house of worship that I could praise You and hear the word.

2. Let me obtain a car to get me there.

3. Find me a job to pay for the car. Lol

All He answered within a couple months. It's all about abiding in His word and letting His word abide in you. And remember: When you don't know what to pray for..Groanings which cannot be uttered are often prayers which cannot be refused. Stay blessed!

Hi Lewalix,

This is a great question and one that I’ve asked God myself..”Lord, why aren’t you answering my prayers?”

After asking the same question over and over, I finally realized that maybe He IS answering my prayer, just not in the way that I want. Maybe my prayer is not His perfect Will for my life right now. Maybe He is protecting me. Maybe I’m not ready to receive what I am praying about.

I am sure that you’ve heard this before, but God’s plan is always higher and better than ours. He is sovereign and so are His plans for us.

Be encouraged that if He feeds the birds..He will surely take care of your needs as you continue to seek first His kingdom - and all these things will be added unto you.

Lord bless you and keep you.

Hello Lewalix,
Thanks for sharing your questions with us. I’d like to share with you that there are three ways that God answers us: Yes, No, and wait. God is great and all loving Father and He knows what’s best for us. If he says ‘No’ is because it is something that it is not good and He has a better idea for us. So I want you feel confident that He always works in favor of us. Let me tell you my friend in Christ that you’re not alone, many believers when, in times of crisis or need, turn to God in prayer to ask for help why many prayers may seem not to be answered. If what we ask, is in His will and not against to our personal conversion, it’s likely that our prayers can be answered. You can read that in the Sacred Scripture in 1 John 5,14 when it says: ”And this is the confidence that we have before Him: If we ask anything according to His will, He hears us”. Please do not lose heart, sometimes in what seems to be no answer will become for our benefit that He answers in His time, not in ours. And when God says wait, it is because He wants us to grow in patience and be more perseverance in our prayer. You can find this in 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 “Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you”. In addition to prayer there are two requirements: When we pray must be with a lot faith and trust. You can find this in His Sacred Word in Mark 11, 22-25 : “Have faith in God,’ Jesus answered. ‘I tell you the truth. If anyone says to this mountain, ‘Go, throw yourself into the sea, and does not doubt in his heart but believes that what he says will happen, it will be done for him. Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours. And when you stand praying, if you hold anything against anyone, forgive him, so that your Father in heaven may forgive you your sins.” I encourage you to keep the faith, and please do not lose hope. Hope this will answer your question. Sending you hugs. I will keep in my prayers your personal intentions.

I would often pray with no result. I realized I was simply asking God for something or the other; not physical things, but nonetheless. I wasn't focused on building the right relationship with God.

Now, I spend most of my time glorifying and exalting God in my communication to Him. The Psalms in the Bible by David are a good place to begin. They gave me the words to express the respect and love I have for God. It reminded me of how the relationship should be between us and God - with Him in the driver's seat having a wisdom and love that is unparalleled. When there is doubt, God is right, and we are wrong. It filled me with Faith and a mode of honoring God at all times.

I also became more aware of sin. It's easy for us to say "I've committed no big sin, nothing to repent". But in 1 John 1:8, it says "If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us.".

I tried to be more aware of different kinds of sin - like when I think I know better, and prefer my way or my knowledge to what's said in the Bible. Self-exultation. Though not too obvious it might slip by us if we are not keeping close watch and listening for the Holy Spirit. I'm still learning just how many commandments there are, that we must watch out for. If convicted by the Holy Spirit, I ask God for forgiveness as soon I can be alone to pray.

Doing these things I think have helped erode the relationship barrier that formed between me and God from before (when I would not do much of either). Now when I pray, I feel that God responds more often. I'll keep to this approach and hope that my relationship grows with God.

Hope that may be helpful in some way to you.

Prior to the lockdown here in the UK, I went away for a few days in a monastery about an hour from where I live. Life this year had been pretty busy and I needed some time away for some peace and quiet and some time with God. I prayed beforehand that God would draw close to me during my time there.

I had high expectations of my stay away. It was indeed very quiet and peaceful there, and it was nice to get away from the world for a few days. But I did ask myself when I was there, where was God? I was hoping that He would draw close to me in a special way.

When I finally left the monastery and returned home, that's when I noticed that God was with me. I had a feeling that is difficult to describe in words - but the feeling that I was being held and loved, and it lasted for a number of days.

God does hear our prayers. He does answer, but does it in his own way and in his own time.

Lizgee puts so poignantly what I have learned in my walk with the Lord. A relationship with God is a living, dynamic relationship just as a relationship with any person. A conversation has to be two-sided, both people are involved in speaking and listening by turns. We also need to do things in the ways of God. The ways of God are not our ways.

Isaiah 55:8-9
8For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the LORD.

9For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.

I had to learn to understand the way that God was speaking to me. That came from continued reading of His Word, continuing to pray and seek His face even when I didn't understand - turning to God in the midst of my lack of understanding and making every effort to understand what He was communicating to me - learning to be sensitive to the leading and guidance of the Holy Spirit, paying attention to the little things - as I like to say, little things are not so little! That helped me to grow in relationship with God. We also need to beware of sin. That separates us from God. We need to be ready to repent. Praising and worshiping the Lord is also an important aspect of prayer - one that we often miss because we at times go straight to our own demands. Yet that praise and worship builds intimacy with the Lord and every relationship thrives with intimacy. Continue to seek God in your personal time, continue to pray, praise, read His Word and as you do, ask the Holy Spirit to help you understand how God is speaking with you. You will surely come to see how the Lord is answering your prayers.

Hello @Lewalix, if you want something from the Lord, there's a Biblical 'formula' that can help you with that. It's a wonderful command with a wonderful promise, actually, just make sure that you truly understand what the command half, our half of the verse, is telling you to do

Here's the verse.

Psalms 37
4 Delight yourself in the Lord, and He will give you the desires of your heart.

Spurgeon said that the key to this verse is found in always chasing after the Lord, never in chasing after the things that we want from Him, and I agree with him about that.

I also agree with @grace4ever that the Lord answers our prayers in one of three ways, "yes", "no" or "wait", as He is not as interested in our getting the things that we think we want (or perhaps in the time frame that we would have liked) as He is in seeing us sanctified/growing in Christlikeness (which certainly includes coming to know Him more and more deeply, as well being able to trust Him and surrender our lives more fully to His Lordship).

God bless you! (1 Thessalonians 5:23-24)

--David
