• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

I went a little manic the other day. I liked it and hated it. Sometimes I just want to skip the drugs for a day. Do you ever feel like that? I get so many creative ideas, but then later it becomes more negative. But for that short time life feels exciting and beautiful. Dangerous thoughts, I know.

I won't lie. I probably mess with my meds more than I should. Especially since I shouldn't mess with them at all. It's not like I forget them on purpose, but forget I do. Quite often. It makes me wonder how I would manage if I didn't forget. How NORMAL I would be able to function.
I know what you mean though. There was a period in my life where I was forced to take them religiously. The first thing I did when I could was let myself relax on how serious I was about taking them. Especially since I consider myself an artist and while fully taking my meds - it felt like all creative juices were completely blocked.

That being said, I can speak for the flip side. I lost my meds recently, and haven't been able to take them for a few days.. and the up and down I have been going through this week have been nearly too intense even for me.

So play it safe. If a doc tells you to take them, they have their reasons. And we all know that playing with our meds are dangerous... yes I know, I am working on taking my own advice.

So, long story short. Your not alone in your Do you ever miss moment.

Yeah, I sometimes miss the allure of the euphoria of mania. But then I look at a credit card statement and remember how destructive it is, and go take my meds. At this point, if I miss my meds for a day, I feel so foggy and out of it and shaky, I want to take them as soon as possible.

That's because you have a steady stream of med within you so your actually going thru withdrawals. The very reason it is so hard for my sensitive mind to get off these meds.

took a mini break, and I can say I appreciate the peace of the drugs.

I wish it to be that easy with me. I just go thru withdrawals from lack of medication in my brain. It's very sad because I feel I will never be able to get off my medication.
