Do you believe video game violence is ok?

Just wondering... do you think video game violence is wrong. I mean, Jesus told us that those who live by the sword will die by it. Whose to say that this is no exception. Just a thought....

I personally see video games as a form of art. It isn't actually hurting anyone, so I don't see anything wrong with it.

But, does it encourage you to be more violent in real life. Or does it have negative effects? If I can stop my self from being violent in rl and dont play too much do you think it is appropriate to play violent games?
I'm just going to play E-T anyways. I went onto plugged in a Christian Review website and they usually have a problem with violent games... which made me think maybe they aren't good to play.

Well like you said, you're not violent in real life, so you're not hurting anyone. I've been playing since I was 3 and I'm not violent. In the end, it really comes down to your personal belief, though. If you feel like it's wrong, then I would suggest avoiding those games.

I just couldn't imagine Jesus playing those kinds of games... thats all. I mean, would Jesus really sit down with you and play a game of Halo Reach or Final Fantasy?
If you could show me why Jesus would be willing to play with me then hey, first thing tomorrow I'm buying Final Fantasy XII.

I can't see Jesus shooting someone with an M16 or tasing a difficult suspect. Does that mean being a soldier or police officer is bad? If you feel convicted not to play violent video games, then it would probably be best if you didn't. But don't assume it is a black/white issue. Just because someone doesn't share your conviction doesn't make them wrong.

I've been playing violent video games since Doom and I'm one of the most easy-going people you could meet. Are there people who play violent games who shouldn't? Absolutely. Are there people who drive cars who shouldn't? Absolutely. I saw several on the way home from work today.

Good point. I don't feel guilty for blowing up that pedestrian as she walks into the middle of a crowd with the c4 satchel I stuck to her. Saints row 2 is awesome.

Well have fun, I'm still on the search for some good rated E games lol. I've heard some great things about Saints Row though, isn't it like GTA?

Yes it's a bit better cause you can customize your own character.

It sounds a little more gangster style too. You know of any good non violent games? Or games that are violent and show little to no blood. No language is always nice too. I've seen final fantasy, do you kill monsters and robots? As long as it's not people I am actually ok with violence.

zelda, ff, pokemon, mario, mario kart, animal crossing. Really just get a ds or a wii. they are like the only good systems atm.

How appropriate is Final Fantasy? I know it has mild suggestive themes for the girl's outfits and there is some language. But, is it pretty clean?
I've looked at Zelda and think it looks good but are you just killing creatures or people?

Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light is a lot of fun. Fighting monsters and solving puzzles. My 4 year old son loves it and is quite good at it. If you find or know any good E rated games you would recommend for a 4-5 year old, please post them. He has a PS2 but few games right now.

I also have a PS3 and hope to get a 360 soon if I can sell my PC. We have a Wii but the drive died so it's downloads only.

Since he's 4-5 range I'd recommend the Crash series it's a classic. Gran Turismo would be fun if he likes cars. They also have a game called "The Bible Game", a very kid friendly and fun game. Includes testament trivia, mini games that are fun, and more.

Why not just stick to board games, they are rated E because they are for everyone. If they say teen there may be killing but it's less bloody if any blood. FF is rated t for teen. There are times when you kill enemies. But the bible has killing in it too, even god has killed people. Look for the ratings.
